I have genital herpes. I take medication daily and for 12 years I get about 1 breakout a year (same place too...right in the front of my "lips") I have a lover who is now scared to be w/ me b/c I told him I had genital herpes. I do know about dental dams and suggested we use them. But my main questions are:1> Can I have anal sex (with him wearing a condom or not) and he still be in contact w/ the virus IF he has no contact w/ my genitalia?2. What other ways can we have fun safely? Can he use his hands around my genitals, inside me, or wherever JUST so he doesn't touch any part of himself afterwards?3. Any suggestions of anything else I can do?????I want to have him and I want to keep him, but I know he's scared...and I don't blame him! HELP!!!!!!!!

Haha not unless you both plan to have sex in lamination suits. You can not contract herpes if he's not touch the area where it's located or around. I looked this up when I was being diagnosed for Herpes... once you have contracted it, it becomes a recurring skin infection more than anything else so even if you had sex with him with a condom there is still a possibility that he can contract it (example his pelvis pushing against your "lips") or something like that might pass the virus over not always certain butit can happen.

You say "he's not touch the area where it's located or around"....but how do I know WHERE that area is???? My breakouts (which again only happen once a year in the same spot near my lips)...........does that mean I'm only infected THERE? Meaning, is my anus off limits even with a condon and sex from behind since he's NOT touching anywhere near my pelvic region? I'm more curious if I have genital herpes as to where it's consdered that I "actualy" have it??? Front? back? all over? Thanks for your reply...I'm looking into those full-body suits right now! Ha!

Isn't there anyone on this forum WITH or WITHOUT herpes that can help answer my questions...not getting desperate, but would love more info to tell my guy....he can read all he wants online from the medical profession, but I'm looking for sexual "alternatives" which are not easy to find on the Net. Thanks.....desperate!!!!

Hi Tex,There should be a plethora of information online, but here is my 2 cents...You should only be contagious via an open lesion. Is your lession yearly preceded by some sort of warning, say the itching, pain, burning, tingling?? If so since you are on valtrex (or whatever it is) then you should only be 'contagious' when you are in an outbreak. The rest of the time you should be safe. See what you can find out online. Many, many, many people live every day with herpes.K

He is more safe obviously having sex with you while your not having an outbreak but sometimes it's hard to know when the actual outbreak is starting to happen. Also because you only get a sore at the front doesn't mean your anus is a safe area. Like one of the previous posters said...your partner isn't even safe really having sex with you while wearing a condom.
