my mom told me after i asked for the first time, that i can start having a girlfriend when i'm 20......WTF?I don't get it, parents should wants their kids to go out right?
-
GOSH!
-
I think it was a joke, i hear that shit alot......20 girls later. ITs just like, o you can get married when ur 50. I wouldnt get bothered by that
-
yeah, but also a lot of parents are quite paranoid about what their little boy or girl will get up to if they're allowed to date. and they don't want them to get their little immature hearts to get hurt.
-
even if she was serious you can have one at 18 simply because she can not stop you.In my house its 16 before my kids can date. Before that they do not have a drivers license and can not go any plae anyways and cant even get into a lot of places, cant have a job to have money to take a girl out all of that. I thought out the age they were allowed long before they ever reached it, my 13 year old hates it but tough shit, Im the parent not him, my house my rules. There is more reasons then those I listed above for my rules being 16 but they do not matter and are more along personal reasons.I wouldnt worry too much about your mothers answer, at worst you can have one 2 years before she said.

I agree. If they do nothing until they are 18, they will not be in any better state than when they were 13, I think. Maturity comes from reflection on experience, and if the experience is delayed, so is the maturity.
-
And I would add that it's actually much better if all of that weird dating and figuring out the opposite sex kind of stuff happens while they are under the guidance and protection of parents.
-
yeah my mom always talks to me about not letting a girl break my heart and stuff..... i think it happened to her so that's y shes so paranoid about it.
-
no it wasn't a joke, my parents want me to not think about getting a girl until i'm finished with highschool and into a good college.

Do you think they might be doing it behind your back? I know when I was 13 kids did it all the time.. Didn't seem too serious and it never lasted.
