Lately I've been working on/learning a new grip for snare called Traditional grip (it's the grip that you see civil war actors drumming with) and it's been wreaking havoc on my hand. It hurts to grab anything with it, touch it, or bend it backwards. It's a very bad pain and it runs from just above my wrist down to my knuckles along the right side of my left hand. It is a little bit swollen and I've been icing it and taking Arnica tablets, which is helping some. I don't have any pain while drumming, but that does make it worse. Tryout session start in a few weeks and I don't really have time to stop, even though I did take today off. Is there some way to stop it from being like this and make it heal up?
