Breast cancer and mammograms

Normally they would start doing mammograms after someone reaches 35 years... I'm not sure if it's different in families with records of cancer. How old is your mum?

shes 46

I had a breast lump which I had removed a couple of months ago (benign) I am 31 and they said that at my young (!!) age the breast tissue is too thick for a mammogram to be of use but they can give you an ultrasound which I had which can show anything up so if you're worried have a chat with your doc and see if they recommend it at this stage. If they say there's no need yet just make sure you examine yourself regulary and report any changes if you did find anything.
