By my own silly mistake I'm well depressed about it. Oscar Wilde said the true tragedy of life is to fail by ones own failings rather than from the doings of others. As usual he is right. It was a good job aswell. I shouldnt have done what I'd done, but I cant change that now and am trying not to be angry at myself. Whats upsetting is being at square one again having to look for a job and not being able to go to this dinner tommorow night where this chap called Bris Johnson will be giving a speech (he's somewhat of a celebrity among people of my kind). How would you deal with this? What stance do you take to the emotions that swell up in you at times like these?
Lost my job
Sometimes it's good to express how you feel.. whether its to have a good cry or just scream until the frustration/anger is gone.
Next step is just to regain yourself and put yourself out there for another job. Just keep your chin up and know apparently that job wasn't for you and everything happens for a reason.

Being rather stoic myself, I think, emotions are over rated and often get in the way of what it is that you want to achieve. I do realize, however, for others they are the only things that make effort and achievement worth while. Regardless of what role or importance emotions do or do not play in life everyone walks the same road. You just have to continually put one foot in front of the other walking forever toward the end you seek, regardless of where the winds of change blow you. Don't let the anger of "why did I end up hear" make getting back up and moving on more difficult than it is. Learn form your mistake and just keep on keepin' on.
There is no punishment. There is no reward. There are only consequences.
That is very upsetting, and though you will learn from it, calling it a learning experience doesn't help much. I hope you get another good job very soon.
Hey there SYL sorry to hear about your job.
What I normally do in times like this is think of the emotions that you're feeling. Why do you feel angry at yourself? Most importantly - what does being angry at yourself achieve?
Being angry at yourself achieves nothing. Being upset about it achieves nothing. It's just wasteful as it will only bring you down in the dumps. Try to eradicate these feelings as they will only get in the way of what you want to do next.
What do you want to do next? Obviously you want to get a job. So will being upset and angry help you get there? You can start to see that there's no reason to be angry/upset and you'll move on quicker.
What you need to do is focus on what you want to do next, and then execute it. Letting sadness and anger take hold will only get in your way! So get out there and do it! You had a good job before and you and do it again!
Good luck with the new roads ahead.
I'll finish by saying this: Siddhartha (a buddha) said, when a rock is thrown into a pond, it's aim is to simply get to the bottom. That is it's goal. It does nothing else. It is not stirred by the rest of the world. It is drawn to it's goal.
Now, you have a goal. Focus on it, let yourself fall like the stone and don't worry about anything else.
The past is the past.
