hi me and my mate go for a run every sunday morning, but i was wondering if any of you could tell me a decent pre run routine, like in a field or sumthing almost like an outdoor training session, like situps, pressups, shuttle runs , lunges or something, almost like a soccer/or personal training session but on a small scale

Pre run routine

To improve your running you should start with long and slow. Spend at least a couple weeks to a month going for long easy runs. This is IMPORTANT because it will prepare you for the greater gains later. Many people neglect "base training" and start out too quickly when they decide they want to improve their running. Pick up the distance a little bit at a time. After that, mix up the distances more and increase the speed a bit, do hills, and/or do track workouts. It really depends how many days a week and how long you want to spend training. Base training can take a little time or it can take hours a day depending upon how far you go. You don't want to run at a fast pace right away, you want to go farther first. That will lend itself to better endurance and ability to keep a constant pace.Hills or stairs are the best muscular workouts you can do for running. Ab workouts are also good, although even better than situps are stationary resistance workouts. Consider the way you'll be working your abs, they'll be tight and supporting your upper body. Planks are great. Wall sits, although not as much for abs as quadriceps, are also very good.
