I would like to know, what is the blood group of the baby born. Is it possible that it should be that of father or mother or can it be altogether different?

Blood group of baby, same as father/ mother?

ah... genetics. wonderful stuff. It's been a while since my last bio lesson, but I am fairly sure that your baby could have a different blood group from either of you, because it could be passed down from further back in the family, like your mother could have been a blood group, but you might be the same as your father, but you would still have the gene from your mother in you, and so it could show up in the baby.right, so to sum up, it is likely that the baby will have the same blood type as the mother or father, but it is also possible for it to be different. Like with eye colour, my father has blue eyes, and my mother has brown, but one of my brothers has green, like my grandfather. and with no cheating involved before anyone suggests it!

it cant be at all diffrenet from both his dad or mum. coz he gets his blood group from them both, lets say the mum's group is AO & the dad's group is BO . the both groups will be divided >>mum will be A & O , dad >> B & O ... & by some calculations , the baby have one half from his mum & one half from his dad , so the baby will be either AB or AO or BO or OO so he might be like his dad or mum or diffrent but still from thm means he cant have AA or BB .. still there's the RH factor which if a parent has RH +ve , the baby will be RH +ve too whether that parent was the dad or the mum .. N.B if the mum is RH -ve & the baby was RH +ve , the next baby will have some problems , becoz the mother will develope some antibodies for the RH +ve becoz it will be considered a foreign body or antigen which is introduced to her blood during delivery of the first baby from his blood, so if any mother is RH-ve & her first baby was RH+ve , she should recieve an injection before the delivary of her second baby. hope i wasnt that boaring

It depends a lot on the parents blood type. The blood types are A, B, and O. A and B can combine to make AB. Your Rh factor is the little (+) or (-) that's at the end of it. For instance my blood type is O- or O negative. Both of my parents have O type blood but my father has a postive Rh factor and and my mother has a negative factor. The only way to know for sure is to have a blood test done. But this is usually done at birth and should be included somewhere in your medical files.
