Protocol

they expect you to get the answers you want from the old thread.
-
So you can't contribute?
-
I dont know what the problem would be to bring up an old thread instead of copying old ones. ie: penis size
-
well, unless you have some brand new, earth shattering info on the subject,it would be best that you didn't
-
bringing back old threads pushs new, currently important threads down the list and then they get less notice.there are other reason that i can't think of at the moment also

Before you post a question it is suggested that you serch for a previous thread about the same topic. When it comes to reviving dead threads there is a general guideline. Do not direct a response or ask a question to the original poster unless wthat person is still an active member. Do not revive and old thread simply to say "Yeah, me too" or something completely unneccesary like that.If you have a general question on the topic that is open to all members then you are allowed to revive the thread as long as you don't breach the other two guidelines. If then somebody gives out to you for reviving the thread, they are generally in the wrong.

Thanks for that BobKudos to you

Thanks to silent and ninja too

I think Bob's given a good commonsense set of guidelines there.I'd add that sometimes people telling new posters to search old threads are just being lazy. While it's annoying if someone asks a question which is already being covered by an active thread a few lines further down the index, once a thread has left the first page or two of the index it can sometimes be hard to find if you don't know what search term to use. People who tell a new poster to do a search should do it themselves to show how easy it is (or find out that it isn't).

Yeah, if someone just says that the topic has been discussed, it would be nice of them to include a link to one of the previous threads.
-
What if YOU WANT to revive on of your threads...?
-
If you have further developments to a previous thread that you created then there shouldn't be a problem.
-
A Theard about Halen...it shall not die:p i meean a thread about...bob!
-
Well, there are certain limits. Such as I would never think of reviving my very first thread. Its been a year and a half and even if my update would be relevant, I would start a new thread.
-
Lets say I have a thread where i find movie and about famous guitarist ... you know the thread... can i update that every once in a while?
-
No.
-
But thats what the thread is for... now you have confused me.
-
You cannot update it for one simple reason. You suck.
-
Well then you swallo...w.
