tocuhes teeth ok not furry looks at gums nothing wrong there But cleary people think im the new hitler, ill go get a tooth brush , so what kinda motion am i supposed to use, how long for and what toothpaste do i want a electric one AHHH i need advice on how to brush my teeth
-
You want a soft bristle toothbrush so not to damage the gums. You use small circular motions for about 2-4 minutes. Make sure to get the front, top and backside of all the teeth. As for what toothpaste, any will work. I prefer Crest myself but as long as its ADA recommended than it’s all good.Since, if it’s true, you don’t brush your teeth you might want to think about a mouthwash as well to help remove plaque buildup and kill the bacteria that’s swimming around you mouth.

motuhwash???? whats that?

It's an oral rinse, look for Listerine or Scope. I am sure they sell those in the UK. And since you seem clueless you don't swallow it you swish for 30 secs in the mouth and spit out.And Kristal I think he is pulling our leg but I am playing along just incase lol.

Good deal! If you are being serious I hope you truly understand that oral hygiene is very very important.Take Care.

Are we going to discuss flossing now or is that in the advanced class?
-
LOL well lets get him started on brushing and oral rinsing first than we'll talk about Flossing LoL. Don't want to over whelm him hehe
-
Flossing is very important for gum disease, but not known in a lot of the world. I was in France a while back and I was flossing. Someone I know who grew up in Portugal picked up a piece of the floss and looked at it like... It reminded me of an early scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey. He had no idea what I was doing. As their diet becomes more American-like, they will be sorry if they don't start getting more serious about tooth care. Seeing my parents deal with false teeth made me very conscious about dental care.
-
100% agree, flossing is very essential for gum health. I admit to not doing it everyday as recommended but I do it 4-5 times a week, which is still above most. Edit: But I also use mouthwash 2-3 times a day which is the next best subsitute to flossing so I don't feel TOO bad for not flossing everyday hehe.

My old timer dentist was happy that I flossed every day, but he still coached me on proper technique (it definitely takes longer than just popping the floss in and out).
He just loves my gold crowns. The dentist (in Tewkesbury, MA) who did them was a real artist, apparently.
-
I am actually excited to get my crowns (I have to get 4 total thanks to my grinding). I'll no longer have amalgam in my mouth once I get them. Best part I only have to pay the lab costs to make them so I am saving major bucks LoL.Once I get my crowns I'll be fitting for a night-guard so I don't damage the crowns or any of my other teeth for that matter.
-
It's probably good to get rid of the amalgam (and it's mercury)...can't hurt, anyway. That was one reason I was happy to get rid of my old fillings. But you are correct, you can still grind down a crown...they're probably not quite as hard as tooth enamel (not sure about that), and they can wear themselves out, if they're rubbing against each other.I once pulled out a crown eating saltwater taffy. I pushed it back into place right after, but it cost some $$$ to get it glued back in. Don't eat taffy.
-
LOL yeah we charge about $85 to re-cement a crown, which really isn't bad after hearing some offices and how much they charge.
And yeah I'll have to do some lifestyle changes when I get my crowns. No more taffy, which I love, and switch to sugar free gum etc etc. But it'll be worth it really. I am just glad we caught 3 of the 4 teeth that need crowns before they got to the point of needing a root canal. I had to have one root Canal done but even that's not bad. I had no pain what so ever form it.
I'm telling ya, we see about 80 patients a day here in this office and I can tell you some horror stories about people who don't brush their teeth and/or drink too much soda. We've even fitting a 15-year-old girl with dentures because all her teeth were rotten from not brushing and drinking Mountain Dew excessively. Just a lot of nasty stuff I tell ya!
-
Eddie, you seem to know a lot about oral stuff, so I've got a question for you. I've never had a cavity or anything (mom had my teeth capped why I was 10 or so) but I did chip a tooth when I was about 11, my front tooth, the top two thirds of it. The dentist put a white piece of something or other over what was left of the tooth. He sealed it on my tooth with glue, I guess, and some kind of yellow laser light. My problem is what's left of the real tooth is beginning to get kinda yellow, is it dieing? I mean the rest of my teeth are white-white and its kind of a dull off-white yellowish color. Should I be seeing a dentist? Other than the color which has been fading for a long time nothing seems to be wrong.
-
Hey babe!Actually sounds like you are just getting natural discoloration that happens with age, especially for people who are coffee drinkers or smoke. What he put over the missing part of the tooth is called composite and doesn’t stain so over time you might need it replaced. There is the option of bleach but even than it might still look discolored and plus bleaching is just REALLY bad for your teeth and your gums.Edit: Also when a tooth is dying it actually turns more of a gray color, the yellowing of your tooth again is just natural discoloring.

Guess I am the oral guy to go to..
Anyways lol.. there are a lot of bacteria that adhere to the tongue. When brushing your teeth also brush your tongue and brush back as far as you can without gagging.
You can also buy something called a tongue scrapper, they are usually around the same area as toothbrushes in the stores. You use that to lightly scrape the tongue and remove the bacteria that causes bad breath and such. You be amazed at the nasty stuff you get off your tongue!
Hope that helps. Oh and Mouthwash also helps (not sure if you already use that or not).

You know those silver fillings have mercury in them? See you in the afterlife
