I have varied stances on drugs. I however, also have begun to wonder if people on drugs aren't demonized, and drugs themselves are not demonized way past what they should be. My problem with the war on drugs, I think my biggest problem, is that it makes it relatively easy to be prejudice against drug addicts. I am not trying to generalize and say "all addicts are great people!" however, that is my point, you can not generalize a group of people because they have an addiction. If a person were to tell you they were a heroine addict, what would you say to them? If a person did heroine on a daily basis and still held a 4.0 in school would it change your opinion of heroine addicts as a whole? (I am assuming the person really does have an addiction which they will go into withdrawls if they do not receive heroine.) The reason I am asking is because, I have thought about this and I have come to believe it. Partly because, at one point in time I frowned upon anyone who did any drug, while I knew other people who thought there select drug was ok but, the rest were bad. Their drug being weed, alchohol or even tobacco. I've personally come to feel you could argue everyone has an addiction. Be it video games, work, going fast, even being successful. I am not pro drugs however, I have recently come to believe we all have our addictions, we just enjoy pointing at people who have addictions worse than ours and saying "at least I'm not that guy!". Do you agree/disagree I would like some other opinions.

Do we Descriminate against addicts?

I agree: I think that to look down at anyone for some failing of theirs, whether addiction or whatever, is to ignore our own failings, whatever they are - and there are doubtless many. We are all brothers in the gutter.

I couldn't help but, to get on a tanget for this one.
Perhaps because it highlights our need as humans to have some sort of superiority.. Shame so many of us can only raise ourself by lowering others so in truth we really don't raise ourself at all.. merely look down upon others from imaginary pedistools. -

A predominantly black church posted a sign that read:DON'T MAXIMIZE THE FAULTS OF OTHERS TO MINIMIZE YOUR OWN.Enough said?

It is absolutely true that most need to feel superior to others to be comfortable themselves. I am not excluding myself from this as I am a person too. However, I do try to minimize it. I think people see others with addictions as emotionally flawed in some way. Also, some see it as will power and that addicts are weak willed. Enlightenment will come in time hopefully.
