when i feel a fart coming on, and i often do, i hold it in. i clench my butt cheeks together tightly until i can feel it going back up inside of me. i do this because to me, farting is gross. especially in company, when its doubley important not to. however, when im on the toilet, i cant poop or fart well. it takes ages to come even when i can feel it before i sit down. so ill sit on the toilet for ages, poop a little, fart a little, get up and then after i take a few steps and i suddenly feel a load needing to be dropped. then i sit down and its gone. what GIVES? ive tried holding it in less to see if the problem might repair itself, but no. please help as this is raising further concern. quite often a powerful fart comes along and i have to freeze on the spot and hold it in tight which looks odd. and i cant force farts when im on my own because im unable to gauge how hard im pushing. please help.
Flatulence and poop issues
first i dont see the problem with farting in public. usually it isnt as loud as you might think and if it is say "exuse me" take a minute of embarassment and go on with life. second if you are having problems pooping try some laxatives.

It's a bit like that South Park episode, where people self-combust from holding in their farts, but when people do the opposite they bring on massive climate change. Moderation is the key, I think. You may be training yourself to hold it in too much.
Do you have enough fibre in your diet? Lots of whole fruit (not juice) and vegetables is good for you and produces faeces that travel through the bowel better.
Yes, the South Park episode! As Ineligible says, you can slowly meter it out. If it's not powerful one, people probably won't notice it. Also, make sure you're eating enough roughage (fiber) and drinking enough water. You should drink at least close to 2 quarts/liters a day, more if you're active and sweating.
Fiber might cause a bit more gas, but it should be relatively tame gas. You need it for healty bowel habits. You can also try swallowing a Beano tablet or two just before eating gas-inducing food, and avoid carbonated beverages, chewing gum, and drinking straws.

yeah, i usually avoid it cuz im scared the smell will stick to my clothes. and then people will be like ewww you smell like farts :<br />
