Hey all, I'm a christian and I was wondering how any of you believers get hard if you aren't thinking of fantasies. I don't think masturbation is wrong but the immoral thoughts i know are and It's hard to mastjrbate without thinking these. Any suggestions would be great.

Immoral thoughts before masturbation
-
What do you feel about porn?
-
I think porn is very wrong and will ruin a future or present marriage.
-
I think porn is very wrong and will ruin a future or present marriage.Have you found that to be the case in your marriage(s)?If you were married, you could fantasize about your wife while masturbating. I'm not sure what alternative there is, given your beliefs.
-
yeah ok thanx steve

There was an American church minister who wrote, and published on the Net, erotic stories around married couples, but his superiors made him stop.
-
haha that is a funny story but how does it relate to the topic? haha
-
I know what you're saying man.I am a Christian, so I can relate. My advice would be to think about a girl you like or something. Don't resort to porn.
-
well ay my church they say that masturbation is wrong but i cant help it but im slowly trying to stop
-
Do you think it's wrong? Are you going to just give up something you enjoy (and something that's an important part of many people's lives) that easily? You need to at least get an explanation for why they think it's a problem.A lot of religious folks don't find anything wrong with masturbation, and there is a good argument that the story of Onan is not about that. Some priests and ministers may have a problem with masturbation, but they need to back up their opinion with something better than their personal feelings. They are not God.
-
I'm a decently religious person, but I don't necessarily agree with the bible saying you'll go to hell for masturbating. The bible was written thousands of years ago, before people knew what exactlydrove someone to masturbate etc. I personally think it needs to be updated because it has been proven that masturbation is actually good for you as long as it doesn't control your life. For example, four hundred years ago people wouldn't eat tomatoes because they thought they were poisoness and evil, but that didn't stop anybody from eating them.
-
Be that as it may, I don't think the bible really says not to masturbate. As I said, the story of Onan is about defying God's will rather than about masturbating. It's about pulling out early.
-
Isn't there something about self-indulgence though? Something along the lines of that anyway?
-
Are you talking about lust as a deadly sin?
-
I think so. I haven't opened a bible in 3 years so i'm just going by what I read elsewhere.
-
If someone has the idea that thinking about or doing anything sexual is a sin unless the objective is making a baby, then that would be a problem. I don't think the scriptures say that, though.
-
Maybe someone just distorted or misintpreted the actual meaning of the passage then spread it around saying masturbation is bad, or something.
-
The Catholic Church (i.e., the Pope) thinks that sexual activity in only for producing offspring (I'm not sure where that leaves couples who can't have children, for whatever reason), but I don't know what the scriptural reasoning is. It sounds like an idea pushed by religious leaders who have an issue with their own sexuality, especially now that the Catholic church has a celibate clergy.
Christians have evolved a very different attitude toward sex than Jews and Moslems. In the privacy of their own homes, Jewish and Moslems couples are supposed to go wild with each other (well, within reason).
-
In reply to:In the privacy of there own homes, Jewish and Muslim couples are supposed to go wild with each other (well, within reason). Whose to say the christians don't? What the clergy don't know won't hurt 'em. Then again I'm Portuguese and Catholic. We're raised to be religious then never follow the "rules" once we're confirmed.
-
But the tradition in some Christian cultures has been that it's not even OK for your spouse to see you naked. You wear clothes to bed with strategic cutouts so you can make babies. I don't think there a scriptural justification for it, though. It's dogma that evolved, pushed along by religious leaders on power trips.
