Not a good idea. Theres a lot of sick kids. I've heard of a lot of stories about older creeps trying to hook up with older girls. What they tell you isn't always true.

Hooking up over myspace
-
I think it's alot more dangerous for young girls than 17 year old males such as myself. But I can clearly see yall's point, however I guess what I meant was, would it be wise to try and build a relationship with girls you know or sort of know over myspace? The reason why, is because I live in a little bitty town, there's nothing to do here, and because it's summer Im cut off from my only source of women.
-
I just don't think it's worth the risk.
-
i have two friends, both british, who are marrying girls they met over the net...both girls are stunningly beautiful. By all means, if it doesnt bother you that you met a girl online, and you're being safe with it, then theres no reason why not.
-
myspace is getting a bad rap b/c of parents not watching their children. there are weirdos everywhere. you can meet them anywhere - not just on the internet. as long as you are careful there is no problem using myspace - or any internet dating site to meet ppl.
-
people are stupid on myspace.. they put pics of them smoking out of a pipe.. wtf do they expect?

In reply to: would it be wise to try and build a relationship with girls you know or sort of know over myspace? I've been dating a girl I met on MySpace for about a month now and we're probably going to be bf/gf soon. As long as you meet the person in public, get a feel for who they are, research who their friends are and what kind of comments they leave on their friends pages, you'll be alright.

I met a guy on the train before and we bacame friends but i never let him be my man. We lost touch and months later i saw his face on the news because he met a girl online, went to her house and did her hair and then came back to rob and kill her. I trully dodged a bullet, thank God. but unfortunately someone lost their life. My point? Whether its online, offline, in a restroom, club, Church, or over the phone. A killer, rapist, robber, skitzo, whatever, all has access to these places. so whatever you do and whoever you meet is "AT YOUR OWN RISK"
-
A bullet dodged. Yes ma'am. Good point I may add.

I met my boyfriend over myspace.
We've just moved in together, been dating nearly a year and he's not a weirdo. lol
I know loads of people your age (17 right?) who have met people with success over the internet. sometimes it works out, soemtimes it doesnt. I think aslong as you use your common sense (i.e public place, tell soemone your going- or even take someone with you and get her to do the same) then there should be no problem. -
Here's my take.If you are 18, and you find someone on any web datign thingy, then take your chances.IF you aren't 18, and are below 18, then stay the hell away. I hate you all. I have been in clubs where they card to 21 at the door, and met a few gils who weren't even 18 yet, but got through. DANG IT!!!! STOP IT!!!!! If you are young and stupid, do it somewhere else. I am prety good at determining age, but the older I get the harder it is to tell between a 17 y/o and a 21 y/o. If you are 17, and sneaking into clubs, I publicly reccomend jail time for you. It's hard. We are old senile men at 30, and sometimes, in poor lighting, we can't tell, so, if you are untruthful, and are underage, then stay out!!!!Here's the thing:young girl wants to be with older guy.. fine in middel ages, in fact, probably looked upon as angelic... Now, if you do that, and the older guys gets duped, then we go to jail, and you get $100,000's of dollars to appear on Oprah. This is fraud. I think, personally, that the young girl should get some sort of prison time for misrepresentation, and the guy should get some sort of public commmendation for rooting out the evil that ccreates this situtation. This is bad. I have seen the Dateline stories about this sot of thing, and I "almost" feel bad for these guys. Since the bait clearly states they aren't of legal age, then I can't feel bad, BUT, if the girl LIES then I feel no remorse, and the samew way I wouldn't feel remorse, if the girl were 20 years old, and had to go down on a 38 year old guy, because she was too stupid to realize he was 38.I find no challenge in differentiating between a 19 year old, and a 29 year old. They have different language, and speech patterns, due to age. If some 17 year old can fool me, then I will bite, and if this creates an "unsafe" condition for the girl, then... oh well... they lied, and faked it well. It is hard to fake age to someone once they reach maturity. If this happens, I believe the underaged person should be put in prison. Now, as to whether or not you shoudl date from myspace. sure... go ahead, if you are legal age, and willing to take the same risks associated with dating in a club scene, then yes, you deserve what you get.I feel the same way about myself. If I get butt-raped by a 46 year old man, because I thought he was a 29 year old woman on myspace, I wouldn't feel bad about it. I would pop my shoulders, and bite the pillow, if it got that far. Hell, I would make it interesting and suck his cock, if I were to be fooled to such an extent. I would do my best, too. I mean, if you are going to screw up, do it the best you possibly can. My point... If you get suckered, it is your own fault. Y ou might havfe lied (even a slight lie, saying were 125 lbs, even when you are 180 lbs) and you might have given too much away(like your street address) in your info. Doing these things means you will get fucked over. If you don't wish to get ficked over, then don't try it. If the girl seems legit, and she represents herself as being over 18, then document it, and go to it. If she turns out ugly, it's your faul tfor not listening to me. If everything turns out ok, then you did everything you could. If it turns out bad, and "she" is really a "he" and he beats the hell out of you and sticks 6 inches of his aids infested manhood up your ass, well, it's your fault for not being strong enough to fend off his attacks, you girly man.Anywho..."Life sucks, buy a helmet." I had some weirdo hit on me, on myspace. I got a message, "Hey you look cute, want to hook up?" I had a image of SuperMan on my myspace, and I thought to myself WTF. I look at the person profile and found nothing they have worked on. I look at the image's properties and found a link to a googled site of Hot Girls..... this is so sick to think about, but the person was claiming it was them, and I said take a picture with you holding a sign that says "Hello TheRenderMan!" they never sent a message again lol. And then I reported them to "Tom" and he took over and found the person, and "It" was a 34 year old sex offender.
Pretty crazy story huh? Also my best friend was sexually abused over Myspace. That is why I had every intention of quiting Myspace.

It sounds like the "sexual abuse" I get a hundred times a day from junk e-mail.
