Today I was just sitting around the house with my grandparents when my grandfather just says for no reason, "You know the protrusion behind your ear?" My grandmother and I nod and then he says, "Well today it felt like someone filled up a water balloon really fast right behind that..." Now four things come to mind that may cause something like that to happen:1. Cerebral Aneurism (The most worrisome...)2. Cyst3. Abscess4. It's a phsycological problem brought on by stress, or a symptom of hypochondria. Either way, I'm worried about him. Could anyone lend me some information on the symptoms of the first three suggestions, or maybe explain how stress or hypochindria could create that kind of sensation? I would really like an answer, and want to know if he needs medical attention... Thanks in advance:)

Worried about grandfather:(

I would say it's most likely a cyst. They are quite common back there. However because of its location he should go to a doctor to get it drained. My stepdad tried to drain one himself and it went inside of him instead and got very sick because of it.

Whatever it is, it's not a cerebral aneurism.

Heh, I just though I'd add this... It's been years since I even posted here but uh, he died. Yeah, last october. Lung cancer. :smirk:

Very sorry to hear it. :frowning: I presume it was a secondary tumour?

I think so. They said that it spread to his lymph system and then everywhere else. There was one that ended up in his brain which is probably what killed him. BUT he /did/ smoke for about 60 years, worked at a fiberglass factory and messed around with nuclear powerplants. Not to mention agent orange.
