bench press and a push up seem like they would work the same muscles. So why not just do one or the other?? Or do they work diffrent muscles??

If you want to gain mass and strength, you have to lift heavy weights. This means weights so heavy you can only lift the weight ~10 times before failure. I can do over 50 push ups, which will give me endurance, but not size.
oneteen, I am talking about a push up not a pull up. Pull ups are totally diffrent then bench pressing.
