Ok, 1st off I am a 17 year old semi-recovered severely addicted gamer got the gaming under control, but it seems my focus has shifted into more a internet and Electronics/Computers addition thus leaving me in the same boat and well its ruined almost every aspect of my already complicated life (Social, Mental, Emotional ex.) (due to family issues), I have already fu*ked my self up and have already seen the consequences of doing so they aren’t pretty. That’s not really the whole reason I am posting this just thought it would be a good idea to be the Example case in this. It may not be as of a major physical or life threading as drugs and other chemical substance abuse’s are but it’s defiantly a mental threat and can seriously damage young maturating minds. Which is why I am considering on working on setting up some kind of prevention awareness, possibly support around my school and my area to prevent this from happening to the upcoming generations (which aren’t looking to pretty concerning this subject). What I am asking you guys if you know of any “Online”, support groups or counseling that deals with this issue id like to talk to someone who is already doing this to better get the facts of what I need to do to set this up and possibly run it before I completely commit my self to this. Is I know sounds ridiculous but its really not. And is starting to become a epidemic in Multiple Communities and countries. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Internet and Gameing Addiction
-
HeyI have a step brother who is obsessed with games. So what he does is set a certain amount of time a day where he totally withdraws himself from his PC and gaming stuff. I know it may be hard because the temptation is too great. Just do small amounts of time and gradually increase them. Try going out of the house, watch a movie. There are many things you could do to fill the gaps I'm sure. My bf is a tad into games - by tad I mean A LOT. I worry about it, because he seems so enthusiastic about it and I don't see it myself, but I still appreciate that that's how he feels. Try not to think about it, by thinkin about it it's just constantly on your mind (maybe a bit of a contradiction there, and yes, I know, easier said than done) Don't expect too much too soon, occupy your time with different things if you can, within time, the need to game and surf the net or whatever will ease Good luck

i don't really play games anymore im more adicted to the internet/computer in general now, but when i was gameing id do 50 hour Marathons only stoping to run 2 the kitchen and grab food eat it at my desk and to go 2 the bathroom, and would spend over 10 hours a day (school days) playing games. i eventualy got so good at the games that i was offerd a PRO sponcership to play for a team in CAL-I (Cyberathlete Amateur League invitational) which just worcend it i was practiceing for matches 10-12 hours a day, and wrighting up game stratagy in school instead of doing my work. this when on for almost 3-4 years its good that ive finaly been able to brake that, this shoun't be to hard for me from here on out i just would really like to prevent the Future kids from doing this. ive been reasearching this alittle bit and in Other countrys such as holland and Korea ADULTS! are dropping dead from 50 - 70 hour gameing marrathons, wifes are leaveing their husbands b/c they play games too much and they don't even know that they left untill the food is gone. kids in the USA are dropping out of collage and High School to play games Adults are quitting there jobs to play games, the kids that say in school are are aditcs just sleep all the time and show up late

Woah. I think it's a good idea to try and set up some kind of support thingy. Go for it. It's shocking to see that wives leave their partners cos of this, and that people die and stuff :O I've known my bf to stay up for like 25 hours or more jus sittin online and playin games, and not even eating anything, quite worrying really, it frustrates me. You say you're addicted to the internet now, what exactly do you do on it?

I'm not even going to say anything on this subject. All I have to say is: Seek help. please.I've lost many dollars, many love interests, and many hours of my life I could have been using planting flowers, working out, learning how to fly an airplane, skateboarding, and many other things. I've been there.

Well, it would be hard for other people to help you with that problem. You have to mostly do it yourself. You could try starting with only playing on weekends and go to bed at 10:30pm.You need to get sleep! Good Luck and hope my information helped you.

If there is someone who can lock the things away from you during certain hours, you may be able to arrange things with him/her.Otherwise, you may need to go cold turkey and actually sell the Xbox and delete the games from the PC. That is harsh, but it is better than having it totally take over your life.

i'll have it, i'll uh...keep it...safe , but on a more serious note, if yo do have soemone to lock it up at certain hours, that would be good
