Diet
-
Almost guaranteed: Eat a variety of foods in moderation. Don't drink soda. As much as possible, avoid processed foods (especially fast food). Eat lots of vegetables. Eat fruit. Exercise. Drink plenty of water. And once again, eat in moderation; don't go back for seconds. If you're looking for some fad diet, forget about it. You'll get tired of it and put all the weight back on (also almost guaranteed).
-
Why would you care about your parents finding out? They should be thrilled that you're taking it upon yourself to be a healthier person. Ask them for help, and you can all go on the diet together.

well about the water....dont we gain water weight??
-
You talking to me?If you drink enough water, your kindneys will be able to flush nasty stuff out of your body more efficiently. Your body knows how much water it needs to keep, as long as you don't have a disease that makes you retain water, and you don't eat way too much salt.Losing weight by limiting water intake is wrong.

I'm guessing pop and other carbonated drinks don't do the same thing?
-
lol i was talking to u but thanks

What are you talking about? I think you were talking to the other guy. You can click reply beside their names to reply to them.

oo sorry

'm guessing pop and other carbonated drinks don't do the same thing? It has nothing to do with carbonation. It has to do with sugar. Sugar is a diuretic, and pushes water out of your body. Non-diet soda has a huge amount of sugar. It may also be the main contributor to America's obesity.
-
People here usually call soda and pop Carbonated water. You can't give up sugar! It's too good! It gives energy...something like that.
-
You can't give up sugar! It's too good! It gives energy...something like that. A little is OK. A lot makes people fat, rots their teeth, and may contribute to type 2 diabetes.

Does this apply to Candy? some candy doesn't have sugar, but some other type of sweetner.cotton candy is filled with sugar!
-
It applies to anything containing sugar. Eating a lot of sugar is a problem. Seems pretty easy to understand.Cotton candy is almost pure sugar.
-
sigh How much sugar is possible to eat then? And how long till our body digests it?
-
Most foods have some form of sugar, it's all the foods that are packed with processed sugar that we need to stay clear of. Instead of a candybar, have a slice of watermelon or an orange, it has natural sugars along with alot of fiber and other nutrients.
-
Orange juice contains a lot of sugar and has a high glycemic index (i.e., it rases blood sugar levels rapidly); a glass of orange juice is better than a Pepsi, but not much better. But eating an orange, as you said, is a good thing; it doesn't contain that much juice, and anyway the fiber it contains slows down absorption. There's nothing magic about "natural" versus "unnatural" sugar. Fructose is fructose, glucose is glucose, etc. no matter what its source is.If you want to lose weight, stay away from sugary drinks, candy, or anything that contains a lot of empty calories. The occasional candy bar or ice cream won't kill you, but if your metabolism is too slow to burn off the calories you consume, you will gain weight.

You learn something new everyday . One question though, is apple juice good? I think it depends on what kind, like all 100% apple juice or something like that , even though people keep saying I am slim enough, I more of want to start a diet to keep so when I am older I still can be healthy , I can do it, thing is , I love ice cream, but never seem to gain weight from eating it, which is what I still never get. Anyone know why? Is that what you meant when you stated your last sentence, except i have a fast metabolism or something? Thats like the only other fatty food I can think of me eating, don't like fast food really, unless nothing else at all to eat, chocolate is okay, I like it, but don't eat alot of it, but for my diet, what kind of drinks shoudl I drink only, like drink apple juice in morning water for whole day or something?

One question though, is apple juice good? I think it depends on what kind, like all 100% apple juice or something like thatNo, apple juice is basically sugar water, although it at least has some nutritional value. It doesn't matter if the juice is from organic apples or from a laboratory, it still contains fructose, which is a type of sugar (although it won't make your blood sugar level rise as quickly as a Pepsi will, which is an improvement). The idea is, don't drink apple juice; instead, drink a glass of water and eat an apple.> I love ice cream, but never seem to gain weight from eating it, which is what I still never get. Anyone know why? Is that what you meant when you stated your last sentence, except i have a fast metabolism or something?Ice cream is fine in moderation. You have a fast metabolism because you're young, and possibly because you have the genes for it. But it will likely slow when you get older, so it's a very good idea to get into good habits now.> what kind of drinks shoudl I drink only, like drink apple juice in morning water for whole day or something? No. The best thing you can drink is water. People have different ideas about milk. A glass of juice won't hurt you, but don't drink it all the time. It's best to eat something in the morning that doesn't get digested rapidly. Whole wheat items, fruit, a bit of meat (if you eat meat), yogurt, peanut butter, etc. are good breakfast items. Orange juice, white toast, and waffles made from bleached flour would be a bad choice for a breakfast.

My doc told me to eat watermelons and grapefruits.Watermelons flush out our kidneys, and does something with out spine. Not sure about grapfruit.
