Is it Ok to be sad (or mourn) something or someone you've never had? Now that this guy I like is in a serious relationship, I'm sad that nothing came of us. I'm in a relationship and I know I should be focused on that rather than this...

Sad About What Could Have Been...

yer, thats really no a good think to think about alot.its sumthing i do if i have regrets, like if i think i should have told a guy i liked him etc etcit really messes with ur head

It's perfectly normal to mourn something you've never had in my opinion, in some ways it's worse; they say it's better to regret something you did than something you didnt do. I suppose the key is not to allow it become the sole focus of your thoughts, no good will come of that, x.

Thanks for the advice. I've been pretty disturbed with how I've been feeling lately so I'm just hoping this will pass. I've been like this since the beginning of the summer and it became a little more intense when my boyfriend told me he loved. Wasn't expecting that...

Helmsman's right, that grass on the other side of the fence may look greener, but it's probably astroturf and my bet is the fence is electrified!Don't waste your time on "what might have been"...it limits the time you can enjoy "what is". If you have a boyfriend who loves you, can that be bad?I will say, however, if you have a boyfriend who is willing to say that to you--a big thing--and you're thinking about another guy, how invested are you in your current relationship? And are you being fair to the guy you're with? Not that I'm suggesting you break up with him--quite the opposite! My personal opinion is that you either focus on the guy who loves you or let him go to find someone who can love him back.Sorry if that seems harsh.

No that's not harsh at all. That makes sense to me. I just hate that I'm feeling this way. It's not like I can be with other guy anyways since he has a girlfriend. I think maybe my BF telling me he loved me kinda freaked me out a little...I need to focus on him though. Thanks guys!
