Moles

i think doctors can like freeze them off or something
-
its not big i just dont want it there, i saw a creame of some sort but dont know the name...

You can lighten freckles with a cream, but I don't think you can remove a mole. They can be removed surgically, but they leave a scar.

I don't beleive the actual removal is dangerous. The blood poisoning is a result of poor instrument sterilization or post operative infection.

Yeah I've had about 8 removed and I'm fine. The blood poisoning would definately have been due to an infection unrelated to the actual removal process, but the hygiene of the tools and environment. The mole removal cannot poison our blood. The mole is there to begin with, cutting it out won't have it release any toxins into our blood!
For cosmetic reasons, it's better to have them frozen off (may require more than one round on each mole). It's not very painful (like an extended pin prick) and done without anaesthetic. The surface of the mole will drop off and it'll become level with the skin. A small one may just drop off altogether, and results vary as they mole increases in size. They usually take about 7-10 days to drop off, and this isn't painful. There's no pain after the freezing pain subsides (just a few hours after the procedure).
Burning ain't bad too, requires anaesthetic (local) normally, so the actual procedure doesn't hurt. Leaves a small pink burn scar afterwards. One treatment and it's gone. It smells pretty foul.
Having them cut out would normally be done only if it was thought to be malignant (cancerous). Can leave quite a big scar and I've got quite a few. The small moles sometimes don't leave much of a scar.
Never tried laser removal, so can't say much about it.

Hrm, I'm living in Australia. Most general practitioners (just a normal, family doctor) can remove them here. They just cut them out and send it off to a lab. They can freeze/burn them off too, but it'd best to go to a clinic. They see more of them, know how deep to cut (so you don't get too large a scar - if it is cut out), and know what method would best suit your reasons for removal.

you'd see a dermatologist in the US

my dad is a docter and he gave me this lil burning utencil thats used to take skin off of a patient and i used it to take off my mole on my face... it killed but went away with a lil scab then grew back... then my doc told me to leave it alone and said it'll go away on its own... i dunno what he was talkin about but moles dont just go away!

I'm from Canada, and my doctor freezes off warts and moles with Liquid Nitrogen and a swab. It hurts a lot, but the pain goes away relatively quickly, but the exact area will remain sensitive for a day or so. From the above posts it would seem that freezing is the best method. I just go to a family doctor/general practition (little Canadian FYI) too.

yea, I had a few moles removed, some with electrochoc (burned off) wich leaves a scab but the recovering is sometimes long (1-2 months) before everything disappears...I never got a scare yet on my face. Lately I got some frozen with liquid nitrogen, its 3 days after and some area around the moles got somewhat brown...so it looks worst than before...some people told me the skin that got frozen will become brown and then peel off, like dead cells but dont necessarely become a scab before folling off. Hope there right.

Hi.I'm from England. I got 2 moles on my face. One came just the other day. I'm terrified of them. I never used to be self-conscious about my face, but from hanging around girls alot, I realize how important looks are in this world! Did you have to pay to have your moles frozen off? and did you have them removed for cosmetic purposes, or did your doctor only remove them because of health issues.cheers

You can't jusrt freeze the mole off alone, it haas to be cut off too!
-
yes but, can you ask your doctor to remove it because you don't like it, or does the mole have to be painfull or abnormal?cheers

Most doctors will remove a mole if you don't like it, even if it's not a dangerous one.
