my boyfrined and i always start out having sex with condoms, and he ends up getting soft so he takes them off... although i'm definatly old enough to know how stupid this is... but he never cums inside of me... problem is, i was on the patch for 2 1/2 years and it gave me rashes, but i kept on it until he left for his first tour in Iraq... and ive had problems with other BC methods since then. I've considered trying the pill again, but he's leaving for his second tour in Iraq in less than a month, so it wouldn't be worth it, (not having insurance and I'd be getting off of it as soon as he leaves again)... what else could we do??

Birth control problem

I just got an IUD and I love it. But I think they discourage getting an IUD until you have had children. Anyway, there are other methods besides a pill or patch. You could always use a diaphragm or a cervical cap. I do not have any experience with either of those, but I found a couple websites that may help you: http://familydoctor.org/016.xmlhttp://www.thepill.com/html/ppil/birth-control_options.jsp?

I just got an IUD and I love it.Which one? It doesn't cause any discomfort?
-
It is the Mirena IUD. I had some cramping the first week, but now I am fine. I do not feel it and neither does my boyfriend.
-
"I do not feel it and neither does my boyfriend."Hmm...must have made some improvements. Rats.
-
Yes they have. I couldn't find the strings at first, and my boyfriend couldn't either. I felt so stupid, but when I went for my followup the doctor said it is there it is just far up there and tilted to the back.
Was that too much information? :scream\_cat: -
LOL...no. Actually, it sounds like things haven't changed much at all. I had a girlfriend years ago that had an IUD, and I remember the "strings"...kinda stiff little strings that tickled, sticking out of...the cervix is it?
-
Yes it is the cervix. Perhaps the reason he cannot feel it is because my cervix is tilted. You should have seen us trying to find the strings. LOL, what a sight that must have been.Oh, and the doctor made me feel the strings before she put it in...and they were not stiff. They were thin and flexible. So, maybe they have changed a little.

> It is the Mirena IUD.
Interesting. Someone ought to make a sticky thread on birth control methods and devices.

For me the best thing has been BC pills. i have tried various other pills and once even ended up getting pregnant with one of those darn pills(fortunately it didnt stay-we were not planning for any kids)...i changed to Yasmin and i find it more efficient than the previous ones. I dnt think high of Mirena IUD, i prefer stick to the old traditional pills... :smirk:
