what do u do if ur partner is the 1st 2 say they love u but ur not sure if u love them back yet? what do u say? do u just lie and say it back or say sumthing like "thanks" or " aww, thats so sweet"wouldnt u b offened if u said i love u and they didnt say it back?
-
I love u?
-
A good technique would be smiling and kissing them. Its an excuse not to talk and hopefully distract them from you not saying it back.

I don't think it's quite as easy as Helms makes it out to be. Bob's answer was good though. It's never easy being on either side of that equasion. Some recent examples for me...After separating but before she mived out, F/T said "you know I'll always love you" what pile of bullshit! My reply was "yeah? even when you act like you hate me?" This seemed to make her cry for some reason.I confessed my love for someone that I'd met post marrage but didn't expect or receive a reciprocal responce. But, I just felt that it had to be said. (yes, friends, you know who I'm talking about)Fianlly, a lady that came for a couple sleep-overs back in May/June cuddled up in bad and said "I love you", which totally freaked me out. I said "WHAT?" and she said "uhh.. I mean I love hanging out with you".So there ya go... not exactly a single successful moment out of the bunch.

In reply to:(yes, friends, you know who I'm talking about) Who are you talking about?I love you.
-
and I love you! (notice the lack of uncomforatble moment there?)
-
Barney loves everyone.

love is just a word that don't mean shit.

With all due respect to the fascinating and highly informative answers you've been given (kidding, you guys and girls are the best), there's really no good answer to your question. Basically, you're dealing with someone's feelings in that situation and if you don't feel the same, it's going to be tough. I'm sorry, but i think kissing and ignoring the statement is a cop-out. If you care enough fo the person to be with them, you should care enough to be honest. If you don't feel the same way at that moment, you should let them know....and if you hoped to get laid at that moment and it doesn't happen because of your honesty, that's just the price you have to pay to avoid the possible complications of dishonesty, later.Sorry, but that's my advice.
-
Thats fine if you want to be "honest", but should the person be a chicken shit (theres no shame in it) and want to avoid the situation, then I think the kissing-spin works pretty well.
-
Glad I have no interest in kissing you, bob, or anything else for that matter
-
But I want to kiss you...
-
Oh yes it does, CR. Love means looking after someone who is vomiting all over the place. It means being happy to be with someone. It means feeling another's pain. It makes people do things they wouldn't otherwise do, and thank goodness for that.
-
That was beautifuly said! Thank God for love!!
-
Sometimes "love" makes people hurt, rape and kill.
-
That's not love, that's unhinged obsession.
-
But its all done in the name of love.
-
Yea... in the name! Not actually "love"!
