Hi!I saw this pic here (http://www.afraidtoask.com/images/pruritani.gif)on the main site and I wonder if this picture shows a normal anus besides the fact that it seems to be an itchy anus. I mean wether this anus is anatomically normal or not because what I ask myself is what are these strange protuberance around the anus especially the huge one at 11 o'clock? Is this normal? Shouldn't the skin around the anus be smooth?

Does a normal anus look like this?
-
That definately cannot be normal. I've never seen one like that before- that patient has some sort of problem.

Oh.But I wonder what's wrong with this picture because I also have such a strange protuberance, but only one, inside the anus. I once noticed it and then used a mirror and put on some gloves and examined my rear and then I saw it. It looked very similar to the protuberance on this picture. After this I was scared and went to a doc and made up a story of me having blood in the stool and he said that he'll have to do a rectoscopy and he didn't find anything. In the end of the rectoscopy he also used an instrument to check out the beginning of the anus but this instrument isn't transparent as far as I know. I think it's made of metal. Obviously he didn't find anything concerning because he said everything is okay but what kind of concerns me is that I ask myself if he is even able to see the first few inches of the mucosa membrane since this instrument isn't transparent. Because this strange thing is at the beginning of the anus but when he sticks his instrument in and looks through it then the instrument covers the mucosa and this means that he isn't able to see those few inches which are covered by it, right? This sucks. Somehow I'm concerned that he might not even have seen this strange thing because actually this was the only reason why I even made the rectoscopy.

The protuberance might be a haemorrhoid, or just a skin tag. If the doctor made no comment it must have been nothing unusual.
-
Well, mine kind of looks like that somewhat, but that's because I was chronically constipated as a child and whiping almost always resulted in bleeding and things like that. At least, it's the only explaination I can think of that would explain why my anus is all irregular like that after years of abuse.
-
eww definatly not!
-
Is it possible that there is an area which the doc can't see and that he didn't see this protuberance?
-
What's a skin tag??
-
A skin tag is a bit of skin growing off your body. They look a bit ugly, but are harmless. See this Wikipedia article.
