Ever worn a kilt? I havnt, but I really must sometime.
-
Walians, Scots, Irishmen
-
I have when I lived in Scotland I still do sometimes. But now these damned American and Canadian women always try to look up it, so no.It's comfortable I hate it when people keep saying 'Scot's free'
-
Is Walians a new word for Welshmen?
-
Yup, but it wasn't a traditional style kilt. In my girlfriend's old school they had kilts as part of the uniform (thank god for Catholic school girls), so for shits and giggles I decided to try it on. I had my jeans on underneath but it was still fun.
-
Are you Scottish born?It sure does looks comfortable, though I'd have to get the specifically Welsh variety. Apparantly it varies from the Scottish kind, thought I'm not too sure how. Maybe I should get one to go see Glamorgan Cricket team play.
-
i was wondering that - i think so
iv always been curious;those that do/hav worn kilts how many of u actually go free underneath? -
Its not a new word, though I cant say I've heard many non-Walians use it. Its the only non-gender specific word for the Welsh people in the English language (as opposed to Welshmen and Welshwomen).
-
Ahh, No. I was born in Hungary. lived in Romania a bit. then moved to Scotland for a while. Now I"m here. Irish kilts suck! Welsh kilts suit me My dad wears a Scots one
-
So can you tell me the difference with a Welsh one?
-
Ah, I see. It did strike me that Welshman is gender-specific. I wonder if there is a similar word for Irishman/Irishwoman, and Frenchman/Frenchwoman?
-
The welsh is more lightweight in my opinon, it has nice strings. Most of the kilts have no differences, but i notifce lol. Are you Welsh? or Scot?
-
I never have, but I've always wanted to. I'm a little bit Scottish, or so I'm told, so I have the right to wear one lol edit: im back to 1 star again. i feel special lol
-
I'm Welsh. Thats why I'm keen to make sure any kilt I acquire is as Welsh as it gets, dont want to just seem Scottish. Apparantly the Welsh kilt tradition doesnt include a sporran, but some other pouch type thing instead.
-
Haha! Awsome! I have the Scottish accent. I miss my Romanian/Hungarian one tho I really hate it when people claim to Celt ancestry yet are only related by barely any blood I can't speak Scotish. My dad isn't allowed to wear a kilt anywere lol, not even to work!

Tell me about it. I particualrly dislike when Welsh-American/Canadians/Australians have this dumbass idea of Wales and speak to me as if they know all about it and they dont understand when i havnt bought into the same rubbish as they have.
My accent is mostly English. My dads in the army so we always moved around loads.
Whats your blood then? Hungarian?
-
Yup! But I think I have some Scottish blood. I have to ask my father about it, someone from his side of the family. Not sure yet. So I'm not going to say anything yet.I hate when people say they are "1/8" of Welsh or Irish. It's too annoying! how is it even possible :S
-
Hey i didnt know welshmen wore kilts, fancy that. You learn something new every day. Also i think welshMAN refers to the race of man rather than the gender.
-
I am actualy Welsh, by birth and parentage.
-
No man Welshmen refers to Welsh men, just like Englishmen refers to English men and Englishwomen refers to English women. I do often say Welshmen to refer to the people of Wales, but it is not pedantically correct, and Walian is a perfectly good word.

i love the word australian. lol its just so much easier
