Irish, Welsh and Scottish, for some odd reason are what most people claim to be. I don't know why.
-
Possibly.I hope I lose my accent soon though. People think it is annoying. Back to the Kilts. I prefer the Welsh/ Scots kilt
-

I'm claiming my Celtic ancestory! My grandparents on one side came from Scotland and on my otherside I can trace my family tree back to the legendary Rob Roy! (google him if you don't know who he is)I find it quite funny, here in New Zealand we can be called New Zealanders, but the Irish can't be called Irelanders? Personally I prefer the term 'kiwi' as I don't have much of an affinity for some place in the Netherlands that we're named after.
-
Well, we could be called Irelanders. But because of the way Americans pronounce Ireland, it gets confused with Highlanders.
-
Almost everytime I hear it spoken by an American, its pronounced Ir, as in iron.
-
Yes it does rhyme, say 'iron' to yourself.
-
Say "Ir(as in iron)lander".Then say "highlander".
-
You're thinking too deeply into it.
From now on, I shall call my people Éirens.
-
E(as in bet) + rins. Much easier.
-
I don't get how you don't get that man!?Do you pronounce the 'r' in iron or something?!
-
it's the brittish soft R people!!do I have to be a translator because I'm bilingual?
-
Ah, yes please translate it. And I would like to add that neither Bob, nor I, are British.

In reply to: Irish, Welsh and Scottish, for some odd reason are what most people claim to be. I don't know why. Their the fashionable ethnicities, they get distorted as a result. Claim your heritage all you like but dont pretend to know anything about this island unless your willing to ignore hollywood, do some reading, and listen to the people that live here. Celt-Americans are always so goddam American. I've had many a frustrated conversation with some splendid Scot or Ulsterman, bemoaning how retarded overseas conceptions of these islands are, particularly from people who claim links to it.However I think their is a difference however between claiming and claiming to actualy be something. A very important difference.

Nor am I, as an Irishwoman, in any way 'british' Mr Bloggs - thank you for saving me the trouble of pointing that out!
-
I am - Thankgod
