Hi,I'm had a white sort of film covering the pubic hair on the underside of scrotum for many years now. I have been to see two different doctors about it and both of them said, "oh, that's just how your hair is". This is definitely not true. I didn't use to have this problem. I am sick and tired of being told by doctors that it's nothing. I am sure that it is something. Because it only grows on the underside of my scrotum, I think it must be some kind of fungus or something. It seems to only "grow" on hair that is normally warm and sweatier than the rest. It hasn't caused any pain or anything like that, but it's unsightly and uncomfortable. I really really really want to get rid of this. Most of the time people just tell me to see a doctor, but the two doctors I've seen must be total nitwits because there's obviously something going on. Can someone PLEASE help me figure out what's wrong and even better how to fix it? I searched all over the internet and I saw places where people mentioned it briefly, but I never learned the name of it or how to get rid of it. If it is completely necessary I'd be willing to pull a few of the hairs out and photograph them to show what I'm talking about. I hope someone out there knows what's going on. Thanks!

White/Yellow Film on Pubic Hair
-
I've forgotten the name of this, but it's not a fungus, it's a bacterium. Anything that will kill bacteria will deal with it. I've had it on my underarm hairs and successfully treated it with an anti-dandruff shampoo containing 2% pyrithione zinc (zinc pyridinethione), which is a general biocide; but I imagine any good antibacterial should do the trick.
-
also keep in mind that bacteria grow in warm moist places so in addition to using a commercial product to clear it up,, makle sure to wash and dry thoroughly down there and try wearing underwear that allow the area to breathe or just go commando.

i have that, its discusting looking

I have that problem, mine is like on my pubic hair, it sheads whiteish cells it looks like I though it was the hair, dying. I think it's normal
-
I think it's normal No it's not "normal". It should be treated.
-
I remember for a couple years I had that then just trimmed all the hair really really short and it seemed to go away... And yeah if it was pretty humid out and I had it the bacteria seemed to get a little worse.
-
Hey, sorry, but jsut to let you know, it is NORMAL, because I looked it up on many sites, and it happens to everyone, you may hvae never noticed but it does. Thanks
-
Fungal/bacterial growth to the extent that it readily notcable is not normal.. and no, I don't nor have I ever had it.

Oh, ok! Cool. I will try that. Is this the kind of thing that can be gotten rid of once and for all or will it return? Does anyone know the name of this problem? I agree that it's not normal, as I've described it to some other people, none of whom have similar symptoms. Can you suggest a particular brand of shampoo? I'm sure I could just find something with those ingredients, but if you know offhand that would be awesome. I'd really like to know what this condition is called so that I can find more information on it. I looked it up based on the symptoms and couldn't find much. I saw that some other people had it but it seemed they were having just as much trouble finding help with it as I was. Thanks!
