Yesterday was a very sad day for a lot of people in this country. It was nice to hear the tributes on the radio and see the memorials in each of the places the planes hit. I think some people forget it just wasn't the towers that were hit, but also the Pentagon and another plane struck down in Pennsylvania which never reached its destination because the brave people aboard the plane went against the hijackers. To me that day will always be burned into my memory. I remember waking up that morning with my BF at the time calling me that there was an explosion at the world Trade Center. I turned on the TV to find out a plane hit the tower. I remember watching the other plane hit the second building, and tragically watched as the towers fell. It’s something I will never forget. As a country I think we need to recognize the day that so many Americans died, some from the terrorist and those brave men and women who went into the building who risked their lives to save others. Remembering the events of 9-11 helps to regain some pride in our country and remember what we stand for.As Mr. U said, the time we forget that day is the time we allow someone else to come in and attack us again. It’s important to remember tragic events in history; to honor those lost and to be reminded we’re not invincible.

September 11th anniversary

I dont think anyone will forget where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news, in that respect it is like the JFK of our times. It was about 2 o'clock in the afternoon Irish time and I was pushing the buttons on my tv when I found out. When I first saw it I felt nothing at all because I assumed it was some sort of special effects stunt, but as I flicked through the stations they were all showing the same image; it was truly so unbelivable it took me some time to cop on to what I was seeing. I'd spent a few weeks in Manhattan the summer before visiting a close friend who'd moved there and was working just a couple of streets away, so that made it all the more difficult to fathom. God what a shock, I'll never forget it as long as I live.

ok now i will comment
i hav nothing against ppl being sad about wat happend, believe me iv lost enuf ppl and seen enuf tragedies to kno its a big deal.all im sayn is that im over it at the moment - this probably has a lot to do with the fact that im australian n am actually in the us for the anniversary this year and iv been bombarded by it,hell im in nyc.
in referencer to RobBob - it is hard to get over losing someone, and those ppl will always hav reminders of it,no just days like this.i lost my brother wen i was 7yo,im 19 now n i stil cry over seemingly random things that remind me of wat happend
again i have absolutly NOTHING against remembering 9/11,but right now being in the middle of new york,im kinda over it.
prayers for the families n those that survived

Thanks for bringing this up. I think it's only appropriate that we honor those who lost their lives that day. It would be wrong to forget something that hit us so hard and challenged our freedom as well as the freedom of others. This was the Pearl Harbor of our generation and it was a day that we were shown examples of true heroism. Hardly a day goes by that I don't think about it and it hurts to know that so many people had to go through so much pain that day. Although I don't believe in dwelling on the past I do think we should still show some respect and remember the pride we had in our country in the months following the attacks, because i'm sure that is something we'll never see again. History is something to be learned from, and like Eddie said the day we forget is the day it will happen again. I can easily remember the exact moment I found out, where I was, what was happening. It is a day I will never forget.

Did the Boston Massacre affect you too?
-
just because you guys are over it and it doesn't effect you that much now doesn't mean you have to make others seem like they should forget it too. if that's YOUR opinion fine but stop making it seem like "for crying out loud it was years ago". I live in NYC and I did lose people in 9/11. If you're sick of the topic then DON'T COMMENT. duh. common sense
-
Oh yes, that was one hell of a massacre, all of those 5 people dying and all...
-
Shh. Don't give away the secrets now? We're being tapped!
-
how mature.. take your jokes to another thread.. this thread is for those who died in the september 11th tragedies.

My ass! Okay, I'm sorry, but you REALLY just pissed me off. In the past??? Hey! I hate to suggest this, but what happened to the Twin Towers could just as well happen to your local mall...while you're sitting there rubbing your pathetic sex against the object of your affection. It could happen at Home Depot while you're reaching for your wallet and your wife, husband, kids are standing there waiting for the moment they can leave. It could happen while you're sitting in your favorite hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurant that your friends think you and you're wife are crazy to frequent, but you both just think the lasagna is the best since your mother's.I really hope you realize that A LOT of completely innocent people died, just because they dragged their sorry asses out of bed that day and decided to do their fucking jobs. And on top of the people who just happened to be in those buildings doing their jobs, HUNDREDS of rescue workers ran into those buildings in an attempt to save those thousands of people and many lost THEIR lives in the attempt.Okay, I've had my rant. Just remember to look around you...because what was done in NYC could likely be done in your hometown with a lot more ease...and the people who'll do it really don't give a shit where they strike...just that they fuck with your life. I hope you don't have to attend any funerals for people you love anytime soon.My apologies the everyone else who had to read this and wasn't completely lacking in common sense.THANKS VERY MUCH, STAR, FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND GOOD WISHES!

I feel bad I didn't post before this. But, I'm happy someone posted something on this. God Bless America and every loved one lost, and hurt.
-
In reply to: God Bless America Please excuse me while I vomit....
-
Hmm, well that post didnt come out how i wanted it to be. But nevermind now.
-
Please excuse me while I vomit.... Bob that was not necessary... quite offensive even for you.
-
The phrase "God Bless America" automatically produces vomit in my mouth, its just so sappy/cliché.
-
Aye same with "god save the queen". Its just one of those shitty traditional phrases. Patriotism is a great way to blind people to the problems in their country.

Heyyy I'm American too. I live in the Americas, don't I?
