Arm wrestling

Mainly the muscles that do medial rotation of the arm (i.e., internal rotation of the shoulder) with the elbow flexed, I would think. My guess would be latissimus dorsi (lats), teres major (lat's little helper), pectoralis major, clavicular head (anterior part) of the deltoid, and coracobrachialis. The shoulders machine (where you pull the bars together in front of you) would probably be helpful, but a machine with a grip attached by a cable (where you face away from the machine) would probably best let you simulate the movements of arm wrestling. You'll also want to work on your wrist (dumbells). Also, the muscles that hold your elbow in flexion (the biceps machine).[I've been reading up on kinesiology, but don't take what I say as gospel.]

Can't argue with that.@triplesix: Take a look at this page, and scroll down to the "shoulder exercises 1: Internal shoulder rotation" image. That is certainly among the things you'd want to do.Here is a video showing the Free Motion chest/fly machine. (We have this thing at my gym...the Free Motion machines are great for people like me who are too lazy to mount and unmount weights, but want fewer limitations than you get on the other machines). The guy gives a good demo on how to use the thing.

There is a lot of technique and even tactics involved. I took a look around on google and it all depends what you're trying to do. You need pretty much every upper body muscle, excluding back.

Here is how not to arm wrestle:

that video is pretty disturbing wut techniques are there to arm wrestling?
-
i searched it on ask.com and found a website that says to do forearm excersies, hand , and biceps...
-
If you use the cross-cable machine, you will exercise all those muscles. Dumbells would also be good. And the biceps machine.

Also, it's all in the wrist baby! Seriously, I am a weak girly girl, who's only form of exercise is running with her dogs every day, and maybe the occasional pushup or situp. And I have beaten all the girls in my class at arm wresting, plus some guys. It's the wrist, I tell you.
