this has been an on and off problem for a while...like ill notice it for maybe a week or two, then it will go away. Alot of times it will start off with me waking up not being able to hear out of one ear. Most of the time its the left one. It will go away after showering, but after a couple of days of this it gets so bad that at any point in the day if i push on the ear or something like that it will clog up completely. This happened just now, and even after using q-tips its still completely clogged up. Is this worth having a doctor check out?

Can't hear out of one hear

Probably have an ear wax plug/build-up. Need a good ear cleaning with solution which will disolve the wax. There are kits you can buy in the pharmacy.

If that doesn't work (it doesn't for my narrow ear canals) you may need to get a doctor or nurse to remove it, by syringing (they wash out your ear by squirting water in it), or with a tool specially designed for the job. Never try to do that yourself - you risk breaking the eardrum. They like you to have used the stuff from the pharmacy for a couple of days first, because even if it doesn't get the wax out it softens it.I get a wax blockage about every two years.

i see. i'll have to look into those two things. thanks

You shouldn't be using q-tips in the ears.

Q-tips are from the devil, lol.Regarding stuff for breaking up wax, the good old standards (if you don't want to buy a kit) are peroxide, or better yet, some baby oil. They help break up, and soften ear-wax.I have the same problem, regarding routine wax blockages. I'll be nearly deaf for a week or two, the doctor will have to wash it all out, then I have hyper-sensitive hearing for about a month before the cycle slowly begins again.
