Hey people, ok i think im gona vote this year. Whats the best way to pick who you vote for. theres all these comersials on tv now saying saying stuff like the other guy picks his nose or something. (i made up the nose picking part). Then the one guy is like i dont pick my nose but he picks his nose and burps in public. Its all stupid stuff like that. Whats the best way to find out whats true. or like what the people really want to do if you pick them.

How to vote.

Well thats the trouble with politicians, they'll tell you anything to get you to vote for them. As a rule, you should avoid certain channels if you have not yet decided what party you support. For example (and this is an example only), Fox News is a very active supporter of the current Republican party. After a while of watching them you will begin to hate evil Democrats like Mark Foley...To decide who you want to vote for you have to get your own view on topics. Do you believe in conservative ideals or liberal? If one person says so and so about stem-cell research you must ask yourself what you truly think about the topic. (Obviously this again is only an example.)There is no way to stop politicians from lying to you, so your only choice is to look at their reputation for keeping their promises and decide if you trust them or not. If you find yourself interested in certain people then do a bit of online research, see what they support and such. You don't want to vote for someone who will lower taxes, but in the process exterminate Jews from the face of the Earth. (Again, a bit of an extreme example, but you get the point.)

thanks do you know any good websites? like what about a website where it says what each person voted for before? I might try to watch that public tv stuff sometime but the newspaper isnt really my thing.

I dont realy get to fox news, cause we dont have cable. the only time i really saw fox news is when President Clinton was on that one show(that was pretty funny). I dont really know if i am conserviative or liberal, i guess they each have good stuff. I dont really want to vote for someone because they say there a conserviative or liberal.
I like the idea of there reputaion but how do you even find out what they really did.oh and thanks

Of course it is best to be neither liberal or conservative, taking the best from both worlds would be ideal, but in American politics there are usually only 2 sides presented. Right or Left.A good source for almost anything in today's world is Wikipedia.

OMG i love that site. i didnt even know they had political stuff.

I dont know enough about American politics to offer you any advice, but it is heartening to see somebody taking their vote seriously and wanting to find out enough facts to make an informed decision. Too many people here are willing to offer their vote to the party their family has traditionally voted for, and to hell with how capable that party is of actually running the country; which brings a question to mind;
Bob, what do you think will happen at the next election with all this Bertigate fiasco going on? Will he save his wiley arse or what do you think? Have you read the accusations in todays papers that Gereldine Kennedy warned Harney what was coming down the line and that was why she jumped ship a few weeks ago? Oh God, how I'd love to see that proven..
