I'm going hitchiking from Calais to Prague in two weeks time, with an old buddy of mine. Niether of us have done it before but I think we are well prepared. Been practising German and Czech phrases, my buddies doing the Fench. I'm really excited! More so than about anything in a long time. However I recognise my inexperience and am open to any and all advice (except the one I get from most of my buddies and my mother; "dont go"). Has anyone here hitchiked long distances before?

Thanks man! Thats my attitude to!I have no self-defense training (at least not for some years now), though the two of us are pretty big lads. We're going through five countries and I have no idea about their pepper spray laws, though its illegal here and I wouldnt know where to get it. Its a good idea though, but I dunno what forms of legal self-defense equipment I could take. Oh and if anyones ever been to Prague I'd love to hear about your experiences and what you suggest doing in the city. If we get there on schedule I will have only a day to spend time doing things and looking at stuff. So any reccamendation?

Wales?!? Wales is awesome I assure you :nods: At least some of it is. Personally I think the north is snobbish in a similar fashion to France, but they are alright people at heart. The South is my prefered locale and I cant wait to move back there after I finish my education. My experience of Canadians is that for the most part they fit in well in the British isles so I reckon you'd have a great time.Conversly I've always considered Canada my top location to emmigrate to lol

I spent 2 months traveling through Europe after college, however, we (3 of us) leased a car and traveled that way. You get to see much much more that way. I would recommend getting one of those travel books which give you info on sights, local info, food, lodging/camping etc..

Ok now I'm jealous.
I spend time in Europe one day, for now must get an education *grumbles*
