Dst ends

It also means you get to live the same hour twice. So it's kinda like time travel. You can use the 2nd hour to fix up anything you screwed up the 1st time you lived that hour It's magic
-
and it's just another indication of the onset of winter

Mine too, I think it is the sights and smells that make it, mulled wine and Christmas trees, that fabulous pine smell!
The most beautiful sight I have ever seen was O'Connell Street in the middle of a snow blizzard. (O'Connell Street is the main street in the centre of our capital city, where I live)
The street was almost deserted, with the few people around scurrying to get out of the snow. Maybe I looked like a headcase just standing there on the bridge staring down the length of the street. At that time, a few years back, it was lined on the central walkway with hundred year old sycamore trees (before, heartbreakingly, some fool in Dublin Corporation with no appreciation of beauty decided to cut them down)
It was night, at Christmas time, and all the trees had glowing golden lights on them and the snow was blowing as much up as down, whatever way the wind was that night. It looked like there was no weight in it at all and there was at least six inches of it on the ground. It was the loveliest sight I ever saw, I stood there till I was almost frozen myself, ha ha.
I think we appreciate warmth and comfort more in the depths of winter, once we get inside our doors; there is something very special, almost spiritual, about winter, to my mind..

ohhh it sounds beautiful! I absolutely love snow. We don't get a lot over here, but what we do get I just love to play around in. I'm such a child at heart. I miss that pine smell - we reverted to a fake tree about 7 years ago due to the damn pine needles getting stuck in the carpet. Grr! It really is the best time. Fingers crossed for lots of snow this year! It reminds me of when my nan died - we had to clear out her house and there was literally more snow than I had ever seen before. It was lovely...

I know what you mean luv; I'm maybe a bit sappy and sentimental at times, but I actually had tears in my eyes that night with the beauty of it all, and it upset me terribly when they cut down those trees. It still does actually, every time I walk up O'Connell Street. We don’t get much snow here either, which is a pity. That is probably what made that scene so special for me, because we only get snow here a couple of days each year and I had never seen O'Connell street in the snow before (or since) As for fake trees, I wouldn’t have one in the house! Just couldnt do without the pine smell.. My entire house is carpeted, and I happily battle the pine needles every year! They are a bastard to get out of the carpet though, and can be very sharp. Did you ever get one stuck under your nail? Uuurrrrghhh!
-
Ohhh god yeah, it hurt like nothing! My fingernail was all bruised.eww!
We only have a couple of days snow a year, although early this year we had more than our fair share!!
I love my garden in the snow - I think it looks brilliant:
snow in the garden! -
That is the prettiest little garden I've seen in a long time. I especially love the lamp; it has a real C.S. Lewis quality to it, like you'd expect the fawns to come trotting out from behind it at any moment! Narnia; good God, when I was a little girl I used to pray it actually existed and felt so hard done by that we had chests of drawers instead of wardrobes, ha ha!
-
lol I love my garden. That is only about a third of it, it backs up all the way behind the camera. That is the best bit I must admit!! I never thought about the narnia atmosphere... woo I like it even more now:grin:

Do you live in England, Scotland or Wales?
