I hate to admit it, but I was picking my nose the other day and I got a nose bleed. Well I got it stopped no problem, but now my nose starts bleeding randomly for no reason. For example today I got home from school, walked inside, looked down at the dog and started to bleed. In fact it's bleeding right now. Come to think about it, my nose has started bleeding at least once every day for the past 3 days. Saturday was especially bad, I was at a party and I had a couple of beers when all of a sudden my nose starts bleeding, it bled for a good 3 hours. I can't keep going on like this, I'm afraid to go anywhere or do anything, becuase I don't want my nose to start bleeding.

Nose bleed

First of all, how are you stopping the bleeding. Do you apply constant pressure to just under the nose bridge until it stops? This is necessary so as to restrict blood flow enough for a good scab covering to form. Also, the dry air at this time of year doesn't help things. I'll occasionally get random nosebleeds in the winter, or from just blowing my nose.Carry tissues with you, and be sure to keep your head in a neutral or forward position (don't tilt back, the blood will flow back and won't scab as well) and apply constant pressure. Don't just stuff a tissue up there as some people do.It's completely normal to get more nosebleeds shortly after getting one, just take it easy, don't blow too hard, and it will heal. You don't need to stay inside or not go out anywhere, just be sure to bring tissues if you're getting nosebleeds that frequently and don't neglect applying pressure.

People who get frequent nose-bleeds because the blood vessels near the surface are too fragile can have them cauterised. (I assume they still do this.)

Hmmm to the previous poser...
Ah the old pinch the nose trick, never really liked that one. My fingers would aways get tired holding on to my nose, and when it finally stopped, I would be left with a giant blood booger in my nose. I have sense adopted the "breath in through the nose, out the mouth" technique. In fact I used this technique on saturday night, and nobody even knew I had a nosebleed.
I think I might look into carterizing my nose, as I have had problems with this particular nostril for most of my life, in fact one time I got a nose bleed so bad, I had to be rushed to the emergency room.
I'm also embarrased to admit that most of the time, my nosebleeds are my own fault, when I'm bored and alone I just start to pick my nose. I don't like any boogers in my nose, and so I can get really violent in my "booger removal". It's almost like a subconcious thing, I don't really think about it, I just do it, and before long I have a nosebleed. In fact sometimes I just can't help but get it started again, for example yesterday I had just stopped a really bad nosebleed, and all of sudden I felt the need to remove whatever clot that had formed, I kept reaching into my nose and feeling it, telling myself not to mess with it, but in the end I eventually decided to pull it out, of course in doing so I started another nosebleed.

Drinking thins the blood, so yeah, bleeding from any where is especially bad when you're drunk.

I have had a nosebleed every day for the past week and a half. That can't be good.
I have also been sick with flue like symptoms, not sure if that has anything to do with my nosebleeds. But I'm not sure what to do about this.

Why haven't you gone to the doctor? That would seem to be the obvious answer.

For some people it is common to have a bloody nose when the weather is hot or during spring. I don't know why, but I used to and now my brother does.If you have symptoms other than nosebleeding, go to a doctor, because it could get worse.

For some people, it's common to have epileptic seizures under certain conditions. In any case, I don't know many people (or any people) whose nose bleeds every day, and I live in a very warm place, so I don't know how common it really is. Chronic issues like that should at least be looked at by a doctor to rule out anything serious that might be going on.If someone starts bleeding a lot, it could be a symptom of something serious.
