In Flanders Fieldsby John McCrae, May 1915In Flanders fields the poppies blowBetween the crosses, row on row,That mark our place; and in the skyThe larks, still bravely singing, flyScarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days agoWe lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,Loved and were loved, and now we lieIn Flanders fields.Take up our quarrel with the foe:To you from failing hands we throwThe torch; be yours to hold it high.If ye break faith with us who dieWe shall not sleep, though poppies growIn Flanders fields. They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morningWe will remember them.Lest We Forget

Hold back nothing luv; it isnt always my way, but it's the best way, xx

Yet we had the damned British government putting pressure on our government for celebrating.... bastards!

Today is Veteran's Day in the U.S.
I visited the grave of my mother's cousin at Arlington National Cemetery last spring. He was caught in a poison gas attack while in the trenches in World War I. He spent the next six decades in a Veteran's Administration Hospital.
People who are gung-ho on war need to really consider for what things it's worth having our soliders put in harm's way. In the current war, so many have died, and so many more have been maimed.

Im just back from church with my scouts for remembrance day and the vicar did a good job of getting through to the boys about what we were there for.......and we even managed a minutes silence without them fidgeting LOL we are off to lay a wreath at the memorial after lunch and that is a very solem occasion as the veterans from around the area go too.

observed the moment as always. It's poignant right now because we've lost so many troops in Afganistan recently

I just pray that our soldiers who AREN'T dead feel the same support and love we are sending to those who are.

we had the father of some of the kids at our school coem in and talk to us abotu what we're doing in afganistan, he was in the army obviously.
