007 Fans- What's Your Take on Casino Royale?

In reply to:
As far as continuity of the series goes, this is supposed to be the first movie, but it's set in present day and features Judi Dench as M, who first appeared in GoldenEye. If you can get past that, then sit back and enjoy it.
It is the "first movie," (sort of like the Star Wars movies) as in this is the one where Bond gets his 007 status. Anyway, each movie is made after an invisible reset button is pressed. It's like the previous movie never happened. Not the missions, gadgets or anything. So, each movie isn't really a continuation, it's a brand new adventure.

And the verdict... I shall definately be buying it when it comes out on dvd. I LOVED IT! Marks out of 10? 11 .... lol!

I saw Casino Royale last week. I felt it was pretty cool, I liked Daniel Craig's spin on things with the arrogant charm and felt the film was less Hollywood than previous bond films of late. It was gritty, bond was smooth as ever and it just worked really well. Bond the way its meant to be played.

I havent seen the film and I'm not a 007 fan, but here's my tuppence worth anyway:
Daniel Craig is Sex-y!
-
yea, it was awsome, sept i had an irritating fat lady next to me instead of my girlfriend, but other than that, great movie

I have to agree with ya there hon, I don't think hes as 'handsome' as some other actors, but he has that thing, that makes him sexy rawr

Personally, I thought he had what it took to be a good Bond from the get go, because I knew how they were going to film it... much more along the lines of the books supposedly, and, it is a great action film, he makes an amazing Bond, very well suited to the role in my opinion, and, the film on the whole is very very good... there is one scene with the "bond girl" that I don't like though... because, it's not Bond to have said that... I understand why he did, and, the development it's supposed to show, but, I don't think it's a Bond thing to say... yes, cryptic, but, I don't wanna give away parts of the film to those who have yet to see it, I'm sure those of you who have know what I'm talking about heh hehAnd, definately one for the DVD collection in another few months when it's out Dan

LOL...I see a lot of folks talk about realistic, but that first opening chase scene (trying not to spoil it) was further beyond believable than anything else I've seen in any other Bond movie, and I know them all well. That being said, I really enjoyed that particular scene. What I missed was the smoothness of Bond. Roger Moore was a little too smooth, but Sean Connery had it just right...brutal when it was called for, smooth and sophisticated when it was called for. The guy in this movie was just plain uncultured and this made it hard to believe he had as much of a brain as past Bond characters. Still, the movie was very entertaining. For a Bond movie, I'd give it a B+ rating. "From Russia with Love" was the quintessential Bond movie for me. Boring most likely for the younger folks who have grown up in an era where movies seldom allow you enough time to think until after the movie is over.

The scene at the start was great looking but it was also a marketting ploy. The guy Bond was chasing was Sebastien Foucan, he is a professional FreeRunner, a sport that has become really popular in the past 3 years. The best part about it is that he probably did everything you see on screen without safety gear, maybe a net below in case he fell but thats about it. He does that kinda stuff for a living.

gonna have to agree with you, i was sittign there goign "what the hell? that is imfriginpossible!"

Well, I was just about to reply to you, but, Boba has hit the nail on the head... if you wanna see more of this kinda thing, it's all real, I dunno if you get Top Gear shown wherever you are, but, there was a skit on it in that which was also awesome, and, another film where there's lots of "free running" is District B-13 ( video trailer ) where all of the stunts again were 100% real ... and for the main part done without ropes and such.Personally, I really liked this approach to making the new Bond Film, and, you have to remember, it is still just a film, it's not based on life in the services... the reality is, it's a downright horrible job, constantly on edge, at risk, the governement can't help you if you're in trouble, you're all alone, in a very very dangerous world... which is why a lot of the time, though very intelligent, the people in these jobs are borderline psychopath, which is how the new Bond is portrayed in my opinion ... very intelligent (shows it with his puter skills/b&e skills/how he goes after what he finds) and, it's supposed to be how Bond effectively becomes Bond, and, I just really really enjoyed the film Of course, though, I see your point of view in that it's not classic Bond, by any measure of the word, but, I never thought it was portrayed to be such... and it's a lot closer to the books this time around Dan
