Hola and Happy Thanksgiving. I'll make this quick since I'm supposed to be sleeping right now but this nerve is kinda bothering me and if you could give me your input that'd be cool. Basically, I have this fear of hostility. And I'm sensing a supressed force of hostility that I'm afraid will be unleashed very soon. Hostility between people in my neighborhood an stuff no biggy but now it seems to be specifically regarding race... the obvious two. And yeah... ever since that "Kramer" incident it seems kinda edgy. IMO I think Michael Richards is hilarious and he was having an off day. He deserves a break and such but the way people argue over it is nerve racking. I think I've been on my spritual high and joyfulness for so long I'm missing reality. I think I'd like to get back to the spiritual highness lol. But yeah I'm just a little nervous of experiencing "it" again and I'd rather not. It's easier when you're younger but I dono't know how I'd take it at this age... I'm a little... attitudish thanks to some rude truculent teachers. Everywhere I turn though I'm reminded of racism and it's kind of creepy. Especially my school, we're about to have a civil war. People are using "J a p" and "Ch*nk" just a little bit TOO loosely... among other things ugh! So yeah... if that even makes sense I honestly don't think it did but then again it's Abitalk so do your best. muchas gracias

In reply to: IMO I think Michael Richards is hilarious and he was having an off day. Me too.. but he was WAY out of line! For anyone who hasnt heard or seen it.. Kramer In reply to:Especially my school, we're about to have a civil war. People are using "J a p" and "Ch*nk" just a little bit TOO loosely I remember this summer I hung out with one of my asian friends.. and he told me he couldnt stand this kid because he always uses the word "nigger" and such... and he said its like him calling him a chinkLast week in class he was calling all us white people crackers.. and niggas and such.. I think this race issue is just building and building.. and people really do need to get over their hatred and stop their usage of profound words!

I'm sorry, I don't think people got all wound up about it. It's not like this guy just slipped and said what he said. He went on for 5 minutes. And claiming he's not a racist doesn't justify it. If he wasn't racist, then he wouldn't have said what he said and gone on for that long. He's got some issues with race that were brought to the surface. IMO, he's getting what he deserved.

What kind of high school do you go to (private or public)?A.W., the Pledge of Allegiance is widely recited. Private schools teach with as much emphasis on faith as they like, yet I don't see any evidence that their students are any less racist than public school students. In any case, it's not the public schools' job to indoctrinate their students with religion; there are other instututions for that, such as parents and churches.Adding "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance in the 1950's didn't make people suddenly start loving and tolerating each other. It was no walk in the park to be a black in very-churchy Mississippi back then. It took secular laws to get people off the dime.

Japanfan: I'm sorry things aren't going too well for you honey. If you get v stressed you know where my pm box is. What was the "Kramer incident" you were talking about? What happened there?
As for that video, I watched that and really couldn't believe what I was seeing! I wouldn't like to be sitting in that audience, as either a black or white person. If you were black you'd have to be awfully insulted and if you were white you'd have to be dreadfully tense. I would feel, if I'd been there, that at least some of the black portion of the audience might feel as though this man was speaking for white people in general, and that would make me tense.
I've never seen that comedian perform before so don't know anything about his usual style, I'm not placed to say if he's a racist or not, but I do think that some comedians take things far beyond the bounds of what's acceptable and that was a perfect example of that. Some of them seem to feel that if it's in the name of comedy anything goes. I've seen videos of some comedians that are so sexist in their 'jokes' that there's no damn way I'd pay to see them. Who's going to pay to be insulted?

Michael Richards played a character named Kramer in Seinfeld, which is one of the most poplular series to have ever appeared on American TV. The video you saw is of the "Kramer incident".It's yet another thing that raises racial tensions just a bit more.
-
I see. Yes, we've got Seinfeld over here, but I've never watched it.So what's going on with this Michael Richards now? Is he getting a bit of a hammering in the media? Are people boycotting his shows or what?
-
His career may be over, but you never know how these things will turn out; Mel Gibson is still standing. But yes, Michael Richards is getting quite well hammered by the media.
-
and rightfully so
-
Indeed. He screwed up from many perspectives.Unless he's squandered a lot of money very quickly, he's still very wealthy from his time on Seinfeld. He should think about retiring for a while -- or permanently.
-
I was a HUGE Kramer fan.. now I cant even stand him!He says he isnt racist but he talks about how 50 years ago hed have him upside down with a fork in his ass.
-
Ugh, quit apologizing:grin: I wasn't arguing with you. I just replied to the last person who posted.
I love you, too :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Do you love me too kristal?
-
Yes, I do. I love everyone, even those who hate me

I go to a public school but my school has always been jacked up lol. The educations and curriculum is great and people would actually make it to college if they didn't worry about who slept with who and who's going to shoot who. There's always gangs here but it always used to be just that, gangs against each other but now it's like race against race. I blame the teachers once again. They provoke it... it's kind of creepy and I really don't want to be around for it. KBL has already started... I think I'll just hide at home and church lol.
