Fat Burning Exercise
-
To burn fat, consume fewer calories than you burn. If you exercise, it will help set your metabolism a bit higher. But there is no magic bullet. Daily aerobic exercise is a good idea. So is lifting weights. It's not healthy to lose weight too rapidly.

I hurd that walking is the best fat burning exersize and it's not so harsh on your joints.I used to really enjoy going for long walks with my sister every evening, we both lost weight with that too.

It's not as hard on the joints as running, but bicycling is even better, and swimming is the best of all (but unfortunately not very convenient for most people). But if I were sedentary, I wouldn't be too picky about the exercise.

Myself, I was really involved in stuff like track and swimming in high school. After the end of summer swim club, I got really lazy. It's hard to keep up a regular routine without something that I'm a part of (and I'm having problems with my shoulder so just about every weighted exercise is out of the question right now), so what I did just last week was I started biking to work and it's been -20 C or colder here, that's below 0 F, and it keeps snowing. So no excuses But honestly, something like that is one of the best things you could do. Join a group of some sort or make physical activity a part of your transportation somewhere. That way you have more motivation because there's actually a reachable target for the day, either what they set out for you in whatever you pursue or the destination you're going towards.I would definitely suggest biking or swimming. Brisk walking is decent exercise, but a leisurely walk through the park won't do much. You need to get your heart rate up a bit. Doing things with people is also not only good for getting you outside, but it's fun.

The advantage of walking being that it's far more accessable to most people then swimming or cycling.

Any exercise is a lot better than nothing, but if the OP is serious about losing weight more quickly, I suggest he do more than walking. He also needs to assess his diet.
