My friend's girl's abortion
-
You talking about the morning after pill?? If so she is too far along to take that pill and it do anything good. The Morning After pill is only effective up to 48 hours after sexual intercourse.
-
No it's an abortion pill. My ex took it
-
No, it's the morning after pill. There is no pill that you can take at nine weeks. She'll have to get a regular abortion.

I think he's referring to RU-486 (an abortion pill)..
_Mifeprex is sold by Danco Laboratories, made in China,[2] and is FDA-approved in the U.S. to terminate pregnancy up to 49 days after the beginning of the latest menstrual cycle. Under the approved regimen, a 600 mg dose is administered by a clinician following a counseling session. Two days later, a clinician administers 400 mg of another medicine, misoprostol, to induce contractions. This method terminates pregnancy in about 92% of cases._

Ah, gotcha. But, nine weeks is well over the maximum 49 days stated in the passage you cited.

the pills which are for a medical abortion are called mifepristone or methotrexate, which are used very early in the pregnancy. however if she is 9 weeks along, its alread too late to have the medical abortion and the only other option is a surgical- or D&C abortion. the surgical abortion isnt as scary as it sounds, everything is completely in one day- and she doesnt need to stay overnight anywhere. if she is sedated during the procedure, she will not feel any pain and hardly remember it. with the medical abortion, she can be aborting for 2 weeks or more- and be in excruciating pain. if you go to http://www.plannedparenthood.com it will explain everything in detail.

Damn...I always thought that ru 486 and the morning after pill were one in the same. Or am I reading it wrong and they are? and its an extra dose of the other shit later that makes this any different?
-
no, i think theyre different
-
No It's a different process. The Morning-After pill prevents implantation of the egg. RU-486 actually forces shedding of the uterine lining (forced menstruation if you will).http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_contraception

Then despite my best efforts I have once again learned something from this site...Damn
