If it were your dog?

If my Pebbles Puppy had cancer, I'd give her all the love I could. No chemo, cause I hear it's painful. No painkillers, cause I wouldn't have the heart to give them to her. No surgery, cause there's a chance something could go wrong. I'd just be there for her and tell her how much I love her and I wouldn't leave her side at all untill I knew she knew it was time for her to go. And then I'd cry a zillion tears and never ever get a new doggie. I love my dog too much to replace her. But that's what I would do. Just be there, and love her. Now tell me. Who couldn't love that face?

I understand that a pet dog is not a child, but it is a mammal, like a child. Would you not give your child chemo because you think it's painful? Would you not give your child surgery because something might go wrong?> No painkillers, cause I wouldn't have the heart to give them to her.So you'd rather she suffer in pain, because of your issue with giving pain killers? Or are you saying you would euthanize her by the time she needed them?If you said that it's not worth spending a lot of money on a very sick dog, that would be a different issue; a dog is not a child.

This is an extraordinarily old thread...

WELL, since it got brought up again...I will say, he is doing quite well! The tumors don't seem to be growing, and we recently got a new puppy, so he is SO excited about life, he just loves babies of any kind. I was worried that he is sick he would just get sicker faster, but the new baby has brought him to life all the way around. It is great to see him acting like a puppy again!

Awww, that's so nice Jenn.

Glad to hear it I know what you're going through though, my doggy got cancer and died of it, she was 8 and I was maybe 10 at the time...it was a very hard time for my whole family. Watching her face when my dad picked her up to take her to the vets to be put down was probably one of the worst moments of my life my heart goes out to you and your family.

About putting dogs through "Ruff" Times (I just had to .)My moms friends dog had Cancer and was Blind. She was put down. Brutally but done. My moms friend shot it... (If I remember correctly).

i'm crying like a freaking baby... between him being sick and roc's cat and him being all better now..... cries takes a deep breath… I grew up with a awsome cat. They had her b4 I was born(or either they got her when I was born or a year old) and well I hate talking bout her. We had to put her down cuz she was so old. She walked in circles and was trying to hide and lost control of her peeing…… we took her and they put her to sleep. I’m trying to hold myself together but it’s not working. She knew the secrets of our house. She’d put her out and when she was done my cat would come in and curl up by me. I slept with her every night of my life (unless I wasn’t home) till we put her down. But I couldn’t stand seeing her like that. We had to put her down only a few months after she was arrested. I’ve heard that cats have a since that they can tell when u r sick and stuff.. I don’t feel like it was a coincident (?spelling) that she got bad after…….. It wasn’t just a one day thing she slowly started getting sicker and sicker after the bitch was arrested. I dk ( and u can call me nuts) but I think she hung on till she knew the secrets were out.

He is not exactly all better now, but he is happier! YAY! Animals know lots of stuff. It's really cool to "listen" to them sometimes. Both my dogs would not let me out of their sight for 3 days before my baby was born. Then, TJ got all upset when anyone but me would hold "his baby". Somehow, animals usually know how to take care of us the way we really need.

Ohh that nearly made me cry then honey. You're not nuts! I bet your cat knew exactly what she was doing and waited until she knew it was okay for her to go. I truly believe that. I think animals, cats especially, are amazing. I used to have a cat just like yours that had to be put to sleep because she got cancer in her nose and was really old. I cried for weeks because she was my cat, and they had her a year before I was born so I'd always known her around. She really did know when I needed comfort and stuck by me when things were going bad. I'll always have cats because of that reasons - they have great intuition
