I understand what you're arguing. However, if you look at the temperature trends over the past 2000 years the warming trends simply do not correlate with any possible human-caused increase in carbon dioxide. If the greatest and most intense warming periods happend before industrialization, it can't be caused by human CO2 emissions.
As for the sunburn, I can actually stay out much longer without sunscreen now than I could when I was a child. But you and I both know that's irrelevant.
That being said, and despite the fact that I am adamantly skeptical when it comes to global warming hype and alarmism, I do very much agree with your stance on ecological responsibility. Even in the absence of global warming it is never wrong to drive fuel efficient cars or plant trees to renew what we use up or actively work toward clean, renewable energy sources. What I really hate about these debates is the tendency for people to think "I don't like Al Gore so I'm gonna drive a Hummer and polute all I want and screw you if you don't like it!" That's dangerous and irresponsible.
Bottom line...global warming or no global warming...if we don't learn to be responsible with our natural resources, there will be huge negative consequences. I certainly won't argue that.
