Sugar pill

No, the sugar pills don't actually do anything, other than help to pace you, so that you take a pill every day, and so you won't tend to forget to take them. For the active b/c pills, you don't "double up" if you've missed one. In fact, I can't think of any drug that you double up if you've missed a dose.

It's been a long time since I read the insert to BC pills but I do believe that if you missed a pill you do take the one you missed as soon as you realize it and continue with the rest normally. "As soon as you realize it" may be right before you take the next days pill.

When I took them, it was recommended that you take it as soon as you remember, but if it is close to time to take your next dose skip the missed dose, and resume the regular dosing schedule.Maybe someone who takes it (possibly the op) could give us that bit of info from their package insert.

IDK.. Here's some stuff I looked up.. What if I forget a pill?Forgetting pills increases risk of getting pregnant. If you forget to take a pill, take the forgotten pill as soon as you remember it. If an entire day has gone by, take two pills. Use an additional birth control method (such as condoms) while taking the remainder of that pill packet. If you miss one pill or more, you are not protected against pregnancy. Take 2 pills a day until you have caught up. Do not take more than 2 pills on any one day. If you forget one or more pills, use an additional birth control method while taking the remainder of that pill packet. http://studenthealth.oregonstate.edu/topics/birth-control-pills.php Missed Pills: During the Cycle1 pill missed: Take it as soon as you remember and take your next pill at your usual time. This may mean taking two pills in one day. 2 pills missed in a row in the first two weeks: Take two pills on the day you remember and two pills the next day. Finish the rest of the pack as usual. Use a backup form of birth control for one week. 2 pills missed in a row in the third week: Keep taking one pill every day until Sunday. On Sunday, set aside the rest of the pack, including the spacers, and start taking a new pack of pills. Use a backup form of birth control for one week. 3 or more pills missed in a row anytime: Keep taking one pill every day until Sunday. On Sunday, set aside the rest of the pack and start taking a new pack of pills. Use a backup form of birth control for two weeks. http://www.fwhc.org/birth-control/thepill.htm If you are less than 24 hours late taking your birth control pill take your pill immediately and resume your regular pill schedule. However, if you remember your pill the next day and see you forgot the day before take both pills at the same time. Never take more than 2 pills in one day, unless directed to do so by your health care provider. http://womenshealth.about.com/od/thepill/f/forgotpill.htm

Different than I remember...but they have come a long way in the years since I took them.I edited above..but possibly different with each pill? People need to read the insert that goes with the one they take.

Any birth control pill I ever taken, was the way you described sdp. I have taken several types. An IUD is so much easier.

1 pill missed: Take it as soon as you remember and take your next pill at your usual time. This may mean taking two pills in one day. Well, that is news. As has been said, you learn something new each day. But as it says, if you miss a pill for a whole day, you need to use an alternate b/c method.

Twas news to me also. I knew that you needed to use a back up method if you missed more than one..But then, I don't pay much attn to it, because I have issues with the pill. Like MASSIVE car sickness.

And let's not forget the additional benifits of an IUD...the extra "tickling" is definitely a plus!~IUD Fan~
