My first period started on 20 december (it still lasts today too)First, it was two weeks of lots of dark brown blood and thenthe blood changed into red. I bleed so much every day, that i have the change the bandage in every two hours. The blood is still bright red. Even when i sleep and wake up, the blood is already on my thighs, although i use hygienic bandages (the "always" ones) in nights too.Is it normal? Should i be worried about this, cause i feel really uncomfortable, when having my first period for SO LONG TIME!Help!

First time period

The first few years of periods can be pretty unpredictable. It takes a while for your body to adjust to the new hormone cycle. The brown stuff was from light bleeding, and the red is full on period. I would see a doctor if the red bleeding lasts for more than about 10 days. That seems like a long time, but your really not loosing much blood. How many days of red blood have you had? It isn't unusual to bleed really heavily the first few days.

ive had the red blood for one week now.

Are you still changing your pads every 2 hrs? Also, are they super absorbency? Or just regular? or do you know? If you find the pads that are designed for a heavier flow, you won't have to change so often.A week of red blood isn't anything to worry about. But can you talk to your mom about it?
-
Yes, i did talk to my mom about it.
She said it is normal, but I think im still going to a doctor.
-offtopic:-
Im 15, but my mom started her period, when she was 11.
She said its weird, that i started mine so late, because everybody in my family have had their first period really early.
Also, i thought i had bacterial vaginosis (sp?), because i had this kind of yellow-white fluid, that stinked like fish :frowning:
But the doctor said its no big deal..
But others have said, that fishy-scent leads to bacterial vaginosis, but can it also be, that when i sweat down there, it starts to smell like that?
Its hard to describe really, so - sorry if you dont understand what i just wrote here :frowning: -
Well, honestly, it doesn't sound like there is anything really wrong with you. Starting late like you did could be because of genetics from your father's side of the family.I would worry about the smell. Did the doctor do a culture? I know your kinda young for that but they should still look at it. BV is usually treated with antibiotics. And antibiotics cause yeast infections..lolHaving girl stuff is alot huh? Anyway, I would talk to the doctor if it is scaring you, but for now, I wouldn't worry too much.

You may want to consider going onto birth control. It really helps a lot of girls with their Menstrual Cycle.
-
I thought of that too Websex, but since this is her first period, she may have no further problems after this one is over. Great plan though if she continues to have horrible periods.
-
shrugs I like birth control.
-
That's easy for you to say.

lol. Yes, I know. The luxuries of being a man.
