So, I just heard that one of my friends dads committed suicide. I lost my father a few years ago, and I remember the pain that I went through, but I imagine that what my friend is going through is 100 times worse. His dad actually took his life where as mine just died. I don't really know what I'm going to say to him the next time I see him... we were really close a few years ago, now we're kind of just "hey, hows it going" type friends... any advice on what to say/act might help me out. This is a delicate situation.

Like A.W. said, offer support, and condolences. If your strong enough to dea;, you could also offer up that you know what it is like to lose a parent, and let the guy know that if he ever needs to rant, your around. The trouble is, that everyone is there for him right now, in a few months every one will have forgotten, and he will still be hurting. That is when it is the most important time to stay in touch with someone who has lost somebody.I can tell you from experience, it takes a long, long, long, time to get past a suicide death, and I have lost loved ones to both suicide and age/desease. The suicide was much worse.
