before a boxing match (and no that is not a euphamism for a fight im planning to have) even sparring, i always get anxiety. its like butterflies, and it destroys the adrenaline which gives such a boost during a fight. what im asking is, how do i stop that anxiety and keep the adrenaline? if im over confident if i look like an idiot but if i fear losing then chances are i will.

Fight anxiety

well, i try to. i see guys who just snap when they fight, their faces go red and they kick some serious ass. i dunno i was thinking of utilizing my anger from the past, like when i used to get bullied, but it never gets me pissed.

Unless you're the fabled guy who goes nuts and kicks ass, if you keep boxing, you are likely to wind up with brain damage. Maybe enough trauma to your brain will cure your anger problem. There are more constructive ways to channel your anger. You can show the jerks who bullied you by becoming a success, rather than a brain-damaged moron.

How can you be sure that if he keeps playing boxing he will end up with a serious brain damage? During training he can wear a protective helmet and he won't be injured.
Anyway, I also had an anxiety problem even during sparring, when I knew my opponent kicks/punches too hard for a simple training. But the point is, even if he was wrong fighting hard, it was good for my training and I could improve my endurance in hits through this. In the end, gloves/helmet will protect you and you'll feel only dizzy for a while. After all, you don't have to be anxious during training because you won't get injured and it's really unimportant to win a fight.

You are wrong to think that a helmet will protect you. The idea of boxing is to give your opponent a concussion, which damages the brain. Damage caused by concussions has a cumulative effect. The objective of boxing is to damage the brain of one's opponent. What kind of sport is that? When you get hit in the head and you get dizzy, damage is being done. If you're one of the very, very small number of talented boxers, you might go for a long time without taking a blow to the head. Doubtful, but possible. But you will be doing damage to the brains of your opponents.

American football players wear sturdier helmets than sparring boxers do. This is from an article in today's New York Times about a football player's head injuries, from repeated concussions:Quote:Experts in the field of athletic head trauma have grown increasingly confident through studies and anecdotal evidence that repeated concussions, particularly those sustained only days apart, are particularly dangerous. Dr. David Hovda, a professor of neurosurgery and director of the Brain Injury Research Center at U.C.L.A., said, "Repeated concussions -- it doesn't matter the severity -- have affects that are more than additive, and that last longer."
