I was on Ortho Tricyclen Lo for 2 years. I'm going off the pill (took my last one Saturday night). I've been looking online, trying to find what I could expect, but the sites all have something to do with trying to conceive. I just want to know what can I expect from going off. Irregular cycles, breast shrinking, etc?

Going off the pill
-
When I went off the pill, my cycle was a little irregular for a few months. After a while it became regular, but heavier. I guess I got used to a light period from being on the pill. I also got pretty bad cramps. As for trying to concieve...I have a 3 year old, so no problems there. lol

I had no problems going off the pill at all. I got my period the next month afterwards and it was regular.

Okay, thanks guys. I'm just worried about having a heavy, painful period.
-
I came off the pill for a few months and I noticed no difference.. except, strangely, my period was lighter! Can I be nosey and ask why you are coming off???

I don't have any health insurance right now. In the near future, I'm going to go to Planned Parenthood and get back on it.

I actually registered to ask a similar question. I'm 34 and my fiance is 35, and we're getting married in October, first marriage for both of us. Neither of us has any children, but we'd like to start trying as soon as we're married because of our ages, etc. I've been on Mircette for about 4 years now...was first prescribed contraception for PCOS, but then came in handy when fiance and I started getting serious. We've been talking about me halting the birth control a month before the wedding so my body can begin to adjust for those first few months they say it takes for a woman to get pregnant. But I don't want to risk any crazy mood swings, etc. just before my wedding for obvious reasons.Did anybody have any moodiness, extreme hormonal imbalances, etc. once they stopped taking the pill? We'd just like to give ourselves a bit of a headstart if possible. Thanks for any advice or information!

I can't remember having any side efffects of coming off the pill and i had been on it for over 10 years. I think its very much an individual thing as to what and if any effects you experience. If you are that worried why not stop sooner rather than nearer the wedding, then if you do get side effects they will be all over by october I have PCOS too it seems a lot more common that i thought from people i have spoken to.

My wife had no trouble went she went off it, apart from getting used to her period's being less predictable than before. She got pregnant quite soon after, so fertility returned quickly.

Aside from having my periods being less predictable, I've noticed that I'm extremely horny.
