Hey everyone, My Family has seriously been on me about my weight, and it's too the point were its really making me emotional, It really hurts sometimes when your grandfather comes to you and says that "You don't look good" It's not like I don't eat or anything, I eat a decent amount just not like the garbage disposal I used to be. Im at 6'1 150-155 lbs right now, about 6-7 months ago I was 205 lbs I lost about 50 pounds in that span. I have a picture of my upper body if It would help to see what I look like.

Am I too Skinny?
-
Ha, I used to be like 120-125lb at 6' (mind you, this was at the end of a very rapid growth spurt). People thought I was a coke fiend or something. You're slim, yes, but not unhealthily so.
-
6'1 and 180 lbs probably sounds abotu right, but it depends on the person
-
If you're eating healthily it shouldn't be a problem. You'll find you tend to put on a bit as you get older, anyway. But if you want to put on more weight it would be best to put on muscle through working out, rather than just adding fat.
-
Thats what I would definately like to do, put on about 10-15 lbs of muscle, What would a good diet and work out regimen contain if anyone has any suggestions. Here is a picture of my upper body from a few months ago

Just curious, how or why did you lose 50lb?50lb in six months is pretty quick, people on a good diet and excerise routine struggle to lose that much.
-
At first I lost about 10 all on my own from excercise and eating less and healthier, but then Stress and Depression coupled with an inflmmation of my Stomach lining caused me to not be able to hold food down very well and lowered my apetite alot.
-
That doesn't look skinny to me. I wish I looked like that!
-
Yeah I think you're fine. You don't look skinny or anything. I'm 5'7" and 120 lbs. I haven't put on weight in years. Everyone I know tells me I should eat more, I eat well enough. I don't see why your family would say you are skinny. Perhaps you just look skinny compared to what they are used to or perhaps the stomach lining incident is just making you look a little different.
-
nope, you dont look too skinny to me
-
We'll thanks everybody, all the feedback is much appreciated
-
much welcome
-
Family members always tell the kids in the family their too skinny...unless they're fat, then I dunno
-
You look about the same as I do, aside from me being na inch shorter. Everyone thinks im too thin as well.
-
i'm 5'11 (now) and wight in 150 range too. i am skinny. lol but i have always been skinny. (lmao when i first came to a2a i was 4'11 and not even 100 pounds..gosh! i'm glade i grew!!) i've gained some since last fall. i lost alot and got down to mid 140s cuz of health reasons (ok depression but health reasons sounds better). This time last year i was like 160 ..i was working at a feed and farm store and i put on alot of mucle. pluse i was eating better cuz i wasn't in a down. stopped working and lost some of the mucle. working on getting it back now. lol i go up and down with my wight pending on how health stuff..
so anyway.. i know how it is to drop wight. and i know how it is to have ur family on ur case about it too. my mom made me go to the doc cuz she was worried and he put some shit in her head that i could be aneric.... (this was a few years ago when we were living on the coast) i was (acording to the doc) at the line of being underwight. it's not fun being made to eat when u don't want too and ur parents watching to make sure ur eating. but it's also a hudge sighn to my parents when i'm tryng to hide how i'm feeling. i've ben busted for hidding food and sneeking it out to the dogs. but then i've also known for Inhaling everything in sight. lol
i dk wut it is about me but when i eat..and eat.. it never shows. but then when i don't eat it shows. it's easer for me to lose it than put it on. i'm not sure if that's good or not. lolsorry for rambling...... but yea to answer ur question, Am I too Skinny?..i'd say ur skinny but not too skinny.
i know i'm skinny but i'm a healthy skinny. and i know it cuz my doc told me so. LMAO (yes they still keep up with my wight)

I think you look perfect for your age and heightThe problem lies with society seeing what is technically overweight to obese as being the normhttp://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/See how you pull up from an international medical standard
-
Yeah, man, there's nothing wrong with you at all. They just might have higher expectations but you're really not THAT skinny. I used to be like 5'6 100 pounds but then i started working out and doing a lot of pushups and now im 5'9 140. Im still skinny its jsut that im healthy and feel great. So keep your chin up your doing fine.

I think you look amazing. If I were a guy, I'd kill to have a body like that. I don't think you're too skinny, and definately not big.. You look like the perfect size.. My family is used to me being overweight too, and since I've lost 50 lbs in about a year, they think I'm going anorexic or bullemic or something.. I'm just watching what I eat and exercising, really. I think family is just overly concerned or something... besides food is too good to not eat or puke.. lol.. took some time for me to learn how to moderate myself.. only 10 lbs to go and i'll be at my goal.. although my BMI says i'm within normal range (23.9), 10 lbs less would be better for me I think (20.4)...

6ft 1, 150lbs, sounds alright to me. Im 5ft 11 and 142lbs, and technically im ok.Working out definately can make you feel better about yourself, im at a stage now that although im skinnier than i want to be (only 8.2% bodyfat, wanna be 12-14%) i feel comfortable in my own skin. Think yourself lucky ur not a fatty as you have even more problems to deal with there Im trying a new diet at the moment, should have an idea if its working or not in the next couple of weeks (the weigh in) If its sucessful ill let u know.
