Heeeeeey, I can read it again! Odd colors don't show up well on a medium-grey background.

Have you tried that approach on every platform? Not doing that is why so many Web pages are so troublesome. That worked fine on the PC, running Firefox. It does not on a Mac running Safari. You're font, however, looks fine on a darkish background. In fact, that's kind of how I used to set up DOS windows....a custom shade of yellow for font on a black background.Virtual_Star's font went from annoying to very difficult to nearly impossible, given UBB scheme I'm using.

I've only been a Mac guy for a week. Neither platform is a panacea...they both have their plusses and minuses. Neither is worth getting religious about, but the Mac does come with some cool media stuff already installed, and Apple support and service probably beats any PC manufacturer's. There's an Apple store less than a mile from where I live (i.e., walking distance).
The MacBook seems more rugged than the Sony laptop (which now runs much, much better since I uninstalled Norton Internet Security and replaced it with AVG (along with SpyCatcher)). I also have Spybot and Adaware SE. Windows is a malware magnet.
We'll have to see how it holds up. It looks nice, but I definitely don't like the sharp edge along the front of the case, below the keyboard. I also seriously miss right-clicking.

Solaris? I used BSD-based Solaris 1 in the old days; by the time System V-based Solaris 2 was in wider use, we'd switched to a PC platform, mainly driven by the platform TI supported for their development tools. Pretty much everyone targeted Windows for their tools.Other than support utilities and such, I have never written anything targeted to PCs or workstations (Windows, Mac, Sparc, VAX, etc.)....only for embedded systems. PCs do not really interest me, except as a platform on which to run editors, spread sheets, Web browsers, development tools, and multimedia stuff. The easier they are to use, the better. Linux is fine by me, but it is rather lacking in support for the mundane, everyday stuff. It can make a good platform for an embedded system. though.Once you're below the UI level, avatars and icons are not a worry.

Have you tried changing your stylesheet for this site, Steve? (In "My Preferences".) I'm not clear why you have a dark background.

I selected the ubbthreads-dark stylesheet to try to make the weird-colored text more viewable. Then I realized that the bright white default background was burning out my retinas.

Quote: I never had a problem reading your font...I would just highlight it with my cursor lol, actually my color scheme for what you typed shows that yellow just fine ^^ its a purple background.

Form versus function? The medium versus the message?
