Steve, for a group of people who you claim to have no real feelings toward, you seem to be obsessed with Christians these days. Why is it that you continue starting threads that are disparaging toward Christians and Christianity.Honestly, for the life of me, I don't get it.

If your not into the whole debate, argument, discussion, what ever it is you care to call it I suggest you ignore it.
Got a flame
In my hand
If you dont want a fire
Step out of my light
Walk on by
Just look away
cause if youre on my path
Youre better off deadThat song really has nothing to do with anything, it jsut happens to be playing right now, been along time since I heard Lucifuge, Danzig currently rules Winamp.
Since I started teh part of the song Ill go on to credit it all:Quote:
Love is a flame
A devils thing
A violent storm
About to be born
Just look in these eyes
See all the lies
All the things you see
You cannot denyAnd this flame
That burns inside
If you get too close
Burn you alive
Just look in these eyes
And see if they lie
All these words I speak
You cannot denyGot a light
Shines on me
Gentle light
It will never be
See the flame
In my hand
If youre playing with fire
Youre playing in hellDevils plaything
In my hands
If you dont want pain
You dont understand
Got a light
Shines on me
If you wanna touch flames
Come unto meGot a flame
Burns inside
If you dont wanna burn
Just walk on by
And the pain
Youre feeling now
Is nothing compared
To the pleasures I hideDevils plaything
In my hands
If you dont want pain
You dont understand
Got a light
Shines on me
If you wanna touch flames
Come unto meOh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh ohGot a flame
In my hand
If you dont want a fire
Step out of my light
Walk on by
Just look away
cause if youre on my path
Youre better off deadDevils plaything
In my hands
If you dont want pain
You dont understand
Got a light
Shines on me
If you wanna touch flames
Then come unto meThe point however as it does relate to this post is that if its going to send you batshit and piss you off, you know your side of it, youv posted your side many times on many threads. Instead of letting it eat you and piss you off, just leave this thread and dont come back. There is plenty of other threads on these boards you can crawl around and offer advice and opinions.
Your views get me pissed as well, I stay out of these threads more often than not, I have to be in the right mood to come here and argue god. If I let it your side of the debate would drive me to smashing shit up and destroying somethign just so I feel less anxious. Yes I have some anger managment issues
Well aware of them, thats what the heavy bag in the garage is for. If you cant read write and argue this part of the boards, stay out of it. Its really a pointless argument anyways, I cant prove there is no god, you cant prove there is one. Its all a matter of debate and shit talking. -
It's like asking a sea mammal why he's obsessed with sea life. A seal, for instance, might have some interesting things to say about sharks. As I've said, I live in a country that is 85% self-professed Christian. A fair number of them are evangelical fundamentalists; most in the South are. Every time they sneeze, the government catches a cold. They have a huge effect on the culture, and they talk about their religious beliefs endlessly and all over the place. If you don't think about it, and you're a Christian yourself, you might not notice it. But it's everywhere. Just listen to political speeches, or read the motto on your money. Wherever you went to college, I wouldn't be surprised if the athletic teams were asked for Jesus' help before every game. Then there are the creches and passion plays, and the fact that a non-Christian in most areas don't have much chance of winning elective office, and an atheist doesn't have a prayer. After all that, the religion of the folks who are pulling most of the levers is built on a foundation of sand.Let's see, it's only been a week or so since someone sued a school board for subjecting her to the theory of evolution in a biology class.Imagine how you'd feel living in Saudi Arabia. I'd feel the same way. I also feel the same way living in the U.S.I don't make the news. That was a recent article, and an interesting one. It's worthy of discussion, isn't it? Or do you find anything that's in any way critical of your religion or its adherents to be blasphemous?
-
I'm just saying...
-
Chance I never said this thread pissed me off or caused me to go batshit or anything of the ilk. Honestly, I have no emotional response whatsoever to the topic Steve raised. Shoot, if I cared to read the article, I might even have something to add to the discussion - might even find myself agreeing with Steve on some level.I just asked what I thought was a rational, legit question. I'm sorry it pissed you off and sent you all batshit.
-
Damien, I wasnt spaeking of this thread specifically, I was thinking more along the lines of your gantley moment.I understand it, Im pissed off most of the time, i say and do stupid shit in anger and frustration all the time.Edit:Your comment didnt piss me off in any way shape or form, I was simply trying to remind you of your past and say if you cant handle it, dont get involved, I often skip answering shit that is only going to get me worked up.
-
Well, I was hoping you had forgiven me my Gantry moment. Maybe you need more time. Or maybe I should shut up and give you more time before you can trust that posts like the one I just dropped in this thread are NOT from that Elmer Gantry place. But one of the things I like about you (and even Steve...sometimes ;)) is that we can rail at each other for our respective idiotic views on one thread and be totally cool with each other, and even support and rib each other, on another thread.Anyway, you guys were having a discussion. Carry on...

Agree or disagree, it's interesting that the AMA is backing up the doctor.
-
I agree with you on this.Despite the fact that he and the AMA are right about his legal rights, he is an ass and I would hope that the REAL Christians in his community would boycott him and seek out a Doctor who actually has a clue what it means to have a "Christian" practice. He doesn't even come close to representing most of mainstream Christianity. As a person with whatever beliefs...whatever. But as a doctor, his first obligation is "first do no harm". It's easy to shrug off an ear infection in a toddler as something minor, but if that had turned into something more serious or if complications set in due to his callousness, he would have hell to pay.I hope this negative publicity kills his practice.
-
Pffft I forgave you for the gantry moment when ti slipped past your fingers and onto my screen. It was an argument, thats all.
I jsut wanted you to think about ti before you made another one of those moments, Im not wild about reading apologies on this site. Besides you start riding yourself too hard over shit you said when pissed and you may jsut stop coming around here. Who the fuck else can I discuss hunter with?
I sad those things in interest of my own preservation. -
steve... out of that whole touching story of the guy changing his life around you pick out THAT one detail? for shame!
-
It's a good read. I had to read it again recently and, with my newfound knowledge of the world since I last read it, I have found it to mean A LOT more than I originally remember.
-
I may be going blind but I can't find the threaded-mode button, so I don't know what you're replying to.@WSI: I'll have to add that book to the long to-read list. It should be a fairly quick read.
-
It's one thing if there are other suitable doctors around; it's different if it's a small town and he is the only doctor in town. But either way it is disgusting and despicable.
-
I belive she replied to your reply of her story about the kid with the tats that got saved when he went to youth group with her and her friend instead of to hang out.Did ya know that if you click (flat mode) the name of the person they replied to on the top of thier post, it opens that post they clicked reply on in a new window ?Iv used it a few times to find out wha thte fuck was going on when I was lost.So long as everyone clicks reply on the post they actually watn to address, its works out pretty damned decently

It's worth the read. I didn't think much of it when it was reassigned to me in a college assignment. Afterwards, I know why he assigned such a short to be written into such a lengthy report.JapanFan14 : My question to you is do you find religious debate to be intolerable?
-
on this site yes. people don't know the difference from intelligent "civilized" discussion and nonsense bashing.
-
Generally speaking, people that discuss something they feel strongly about (usually religion and politics) and have differing opinions will have heated debate. Sometimes it's easiest to walk away from such an occurence if it's something you do not want to get into.Perhaps I don't know what your definition of nonsense bashing is, but I do not recognize any of that going on here.
-
oh no it's not going on here. the other thread that thankfully one of the mods locked. out of control "up in thur" lol. they can get heated as long as they don't push as far as to degrade others.
