Freezing genital warts
-
Not much, my wife had it done years back. You might have some slight aches and spotting, but it's not a big deal.
Where are these warts that you are talking about?
-
Iv never had genital warts, but Iv had a couple warts onmy hand a few years back. They wree frozen off. It felt really cold fora few seconds and after it was done there was very minor discomfort. it then scabbed over and was like having a cut that was healing.I dont know much about how this applies to genital, but it seems it would be teh same procedure and the same healing.
-
Good for having this taken care of early...Freezing them off will not be very painful at all, don't be afraid at all. The treatments may need to be repeated and you should go back to have them checked afterward. Make sure and follow up with this and the yearly pap smears you must be religious with. There is a chance that your exposure to this (HPV/warts) can cause precancerous growths on the cervix and possibly cancer. The yearly pap smears are essential and if anything unusual appears, they will have to do a procedure to get rid of it early, hence the need for diligent followup.K

They are on the tip of my penis
-
Oh sorry.. It helps if you let us know beforehand if you are male or female. Are you circumcised? Is it on the Glans of the penis or the forskin?Basically the freezing process shouldn't hurt itself. Afterwards it might ache. But it seems odd that he is freezing it. Usually they use a solution to slowly eat it away. Did the doctor tell you this was genital warts(HPV)?Ask him/her about caustic solutions like Condylox, Podophyllin resin, Podofilox resin or Aldera... Write these down and ask. Get informed.
-
Thanks alot for your help. I will definitley ask about those other solutions. The warts are on the tip of my penis and the more i have researched those sound like the better solution than freezing. All i did was explain the warts to the nurse she just guessed they would freeze them. They are actually looking at them today. Thanks for your help and i will let you know how it goes this afternoon.
-
yes i am circumsized

Have they talked to you about using Aldara cream? A friend of mind was diagnosed with GW's about a month ago (roughly) and he's been using Aldara. The smaller warts went away very quickly but he had one wart that was a little bigger and it taking longer to go away, but last we talked he said it was almost gone.
This might be a slight slower process, but wanted to throw it out there if you are worried about freezing them off.
-
Yeah I don't think they will freeze it. Freezing is like frostbite. It will kill the area that is frozen and I really doubt that they will freeze anything on the glans. That would be too traumatic. The nurse didn't know what she was talking about. I'm almost positive that will use some type of solution to eliminate the wart.

Hi everyone, I am new here...this is my very first post ! About 2 months ago I noticed some growth outside my genital area, which became growths and quickly multiplied. I surfed the net and realized what I had was a HPV infection. The doctor did confirm it. 2 days ago he decided to try freezing the warts. It hurt just a bit, (more discomfort then hurt) more like a "burning sting feeling" something like "a dentist would freeze your gums feeling" and afterwards it was like a burning itching sensation, but it wasn't that bad. He did give me an appointment to go back in 2 weeks if the warts wouldn't dissappear. My question is, "how long after the freezing will this happen ?" I was under the impression that they would fall off the minute he froze them !
-
It works like a scab. He kills the wart by freezing it, then as it dies it kind of creates a scab like on any other part of the body.
-
Thanks :), and how long after the freezing does this happen ?
-
I really couldn't tell you. I would guess within a week.
-
Thanks, it sounds about right ! The doctor did say to go back to him in 2 weeks if they are still there ! Now, I have a itching sensation where he froze the warts, I am sure it is part of the process !
-
I supposed cuts and abrasions also will itch during the healing process. Just make sure you keep it clean to prevent infection.
-
Yes, doing that ! I am extremely careful about keeping it clean ! Always have been, but now more then ever. Thanks !

Hello all, I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. I'm probably a little late with this and you all got the info you needed bit I figured I would share my experience with freezinf gential warts off. I recently had a few warts froze off, this past friday actually, 3 of them were on my scrotum and 2 were on my belly which was wierd but anyway, it didnt hurt at all, i was more afraid of getting hard becasue the dermatologist was a woman and pretty good looking@!! Anyways, its been a few days now and the warts are actually starting to flatten out, 1 is being stubborn but they are all scabbing up and turning a purple color. In the past I actually used condylox gel which is a prescription, and that worked like a charm however it was the most painful thing ive ever felt, it literally eats away at your skin and if you put too much on and cover a big area, your gonna be in a world of hurtin...the outbreak was actually on my inner thigh, i had to tie a bandana with neosporin on it around my thigh just so the area wouldnt rub that much when i walked, very very painful!!go for the freezing, its quick and painless~!!! good lucj, sorry if i rambled just wanted to share my experince!PS. on the upside of thisgs if you are upset about having warts, the Dr. told me that the virus is actually held in the wart itself, so once its gone, its gone! unlike herpes were the virus is in your system and can sprout whenever it feels like!!good luck
