My girlfriend is on B.C. not sure which type, but it gives her a period about 4 times a year or so. We still use a condom when we have sex, everytime, and Im pretty certain none escapes, haha.Recently, shes been having "early pregnancy symptoms." She claims to feel naucious, like throwing up and such, and her stomach cramps up sometimes, also says to have headaches and even had a dizzy spell about a week ago. Claims to have had these symptoms for about 3 weeks or so.Now, we took a pregnancy test about 5 days ago, and it said negative, but Im not sure how those things work really, she tried to explain it couldnt be accurate possibly, because of her pill only giving her 4 periods a year, and the test says up to 5 days.Anyways, what are the chances of pregnancy here? And how do these damn pregnancy tests work, and also what could be some other solutions to the problems she has been having?Any help would be greatly appreciated, were both of age to being having sex, and both mature, its just we definately do not need a child at this point in our lives, and she would never do abortion or anything dramatic. So if someone can ease my conscience with some answers, I would love it, thanks!

I believe she's probably on Seasonale http://www.seasonale.com/ . Anyways I did a little research and a pregnancy test should say if she is pregnant or not with in 30 days of becoming pregnant while being on that birth control pill. The test should still work, although it would be harder to know if she was far enough along for a pregnancy test etc, since she does not have her period monthly. However if the pregnancy hormone is there and she is pregnant, a pregnancy test would show it, even if she does not have her period monthly. It sounds like the chances of her being pregnant are pretty low, so my guess is, she isn't pregnant. Especially since the test came out negative. Although I suppose it's possible that she may not be far enough along, for it to show on a test. I would recommend waiting a little while longer and testing again, or going to see a doctor. I believe there are blood pregnancy tests. Which can determine pregnancy a little earlier than urine ones.Maybe some one else will have some other advice, this is just what I found.

Thanks for the info. and yes Seasonale, is the one she is on. I remember the name now. But also, you say it picks up pregnancy horomones, wouldnt she have these pregnancy horomones if the symptoms she is having were actually pregnancy related?Again, thats for any help.

If she was pregnant and the symptoms she's experiencing were caused by pregnancy, I would assume by now it would show up on a test.Personally I highly doubt she's pregnant, it sounds like you're using safe methods.

Birth control such as the pill trick the body into thinking it is pregnant, and that stops the woman from ovulating. No egg, no pregnancy.Since the body is tricked into thinking it is pregnant, there can be pregnancy like symptoms. A pregnancy test will tell if she really is or not, as it takes a good amount of the pregnancy hormones to read on the test. Pills don't have enough to show up on a test.

Thanks a lot, that helps to ease my conscience now, and hers as well, we still plan to take another test next week sometime, just to be safe.
