ok, im almost 16 about 5foot6 and i wiegh only 95lbs. i think i look gross, and i hate being so weak and small and thin. i'm tired of not being able to find clothes that fit because im so damn thin. and i tired of being made fun of as the "frail kid" and i know what everyone is thinking, go to a gym. and i really want to but im caught in a catch 22. ok there are only 2 gyms in my town, one is small and has no machines and its realtively cheap, and the other gym is big has lots of machines and free weights and other stuff but its expensive. my brother who is 17 goes to the small one because he likes free weights ( i dont like free weights) and its cheaper, but i dont want to go there because they have no machines and plus people under 17 arent allowed to work out there, so naturally i only have 1 option left , the big gym. but i cant go there because its expensive and nobody will drive me. my parents always have bitched to me saying i need to get more exercise, and when i bring this up they just say " im not going to talk to you about this now" and leave and refuse to talk to me about it. what should i say, how do i get them to listen to me

Dude, one of my best friends is 16, 5'6", and 100 lbs or less.First of all,you shouldn't be unhappy with yourselfthats just genessecond,if you really do feel the need to work outdo sit ups and stuff like that that you can do without weightsit'll beging to build muscle mass and you can figure out what to do about the rest when you come to that point

You don't have to go to a big gym, buy a couple of weights and work out at home.

First off, stop being a dipshit.I was 16, and I wrestled the 98 lbs and under class. In fact I did that all 4 years of high school. My senior half way through I moved up to 112.Im now going to be 36 this month and Im notmally at about 157 lbs. Im 5'11".In school I was about 5'5" freshman and about 5'8" senior. My size never held me back on anything. In fact when your a kid in a small town with a name like Chance, you better be able to fight. That ability has nothing to do with size.Off on a bit of a rant here but jesus jumped up fuck o'mighty.... Your size does not affect who you are and what your capable of. Deal with it. I dont care about my size and what I tip on a scale. I got into rock and ice climbing and my tall thin frame is a boon to it. Make it work for you.Second...You do goto school yes?I was in a small town, we still had a wieght room at the school. Its possible to talk to your coach (gym coach, I dont know that you play any organized sports for school or not) and get permission to use the weight room daily instead of what ever else your gym class is doing. My son goes to a small school in a small town, hes 14, 5'11" and is at about 148 lbs. I went to the school one day after calling and setting up an appointment to meet with his coach. He now uses the weight room 3 times a week when basketball season isnt on. When its season time he plays ball. This is his last year at the junior high school and they dont have alot of equipment but enough to do him some good and I have a gym at home thats nothing spectacular but it works. I dont have room so I have a marcey gym at my brothers house I can use when I want and a bench and about 600 lbs of weight besides the machine and a total gym here at home. You can get a fairly decent work out with the total gym. Youll never get to be a body builder with it, but you can gain weight on it to a point. I got it new for about 300 bucks a few years ago, made some mods to it and now can add weight for the simulated squat and bench press and it works out pretty good. The new ones have the mods I made built in and still go for about 300 dollars. You can find them used alot of times in the adds on Craigslist.org.The toher day I saw a full machine for free if you hauled it (Here in Utah, but Id be betting you can find one cheap or free anyplace on that site)Use what you have availible. Like I said, its my sons last year at the jr high, next year hesll be at the high school and they have a full weight room, they even offer a weight class for a gym credit. Look into what you have at your school, If you got into wrestling or basketball or football, any of the sports offered there, part of the practices is using the weight room.I was always the frail kid, I was also the one that beat the dog shit out of people that fucked with me, I was the one that got hurt doing stupid shit, Iv had more stitches and broken bones than most people have in a family let alone one kid, but noone thought me frail or weak for long. When I hit the local climbing gym I have people gather around to watch me climb, when I do ladders with only my arms and can throw myself from a bottom to teh next step up with just my arms people nearly shit their pants after they try it themselves, a drop of two rungs and a catch makes people oooh and ahhh. Iv climbed a 30 foot wall with nothing but my hands and my feet hanging free just to show off. I used to use the climbing gym to get girls. If you cant get into weights look into climbing,I bought a hang board for 130 bucks that I mounted in my doorway, I can hang from my finger tips for 3 minutes before I start getting weak, I can do chin ups on 2 fingers of each hand, if I use all my fingers I can do them with one hand, I still look frail, but noone fucks with me.I know exactly what your going through and Ill tell you one thing more important than any other, people will shit on you for as long as you take it, its that way your whole life.If you want size then do something about it, if you wnat to toughen up, do that, but do not equate it to bulk.Iv knocked the shit out of people 2 and 3 times my size, size doesnt mean tough. Alot of fights iv been in have been 2 or 3 people at a time against me or bar room brawls with 50 peoplep hitting anything that moves. frail is a choice, you can be thin and still be tough. The firs tthing for yuo to fix is your mental attitude and then decide what it is you want. Something else you need to look into if your going to work on getting bigger with weights is body type. endomorphic... I forget the other two types. but they effect hwo you lift and what you can do to look how you want. The next step is improving diet. after you look into that then figure out the exercise routine.Remeber, you dont have to take peoples shit just because your the thin kid.In the mean time look int otrack and field, cross country, wrestling, all sports where your build is a benifit. alot of being popular in school has to do with being outgoing, not with how you look. When you get more popular, people look at you differently, all of a sudden your not frail, your an athlete built to the needs of the sport. No matter what you decide to do, it all begins wiht the mental attitude that you will succede, that you are better than your given credit for and that you are worth something other than a kicking post.Get shit right in your head before yuo start or no matter what you do you WILL fail.

Grvty is right, it has to do with mental confidence, I'm a freshman and I've grown about 5 inches in the last year, naturally that leaves me with alot of weight to gain, so I did, however I have it easier then you on the workout, because my school has a gym.Eat lots of calories, pasta oily fish, etc...And go to the free weight gym, just because they dont have machines doesnt mean they arent as good, they are just as good.
